Not so much a "garage", as it is a hidey-hole for the RZ, and its new stage IV ported engine...

Nice bikes Destin. Now, if I could just win the lottery.........
I've had the XR since '06, it was a left over '04 new on the floor but just recently got it plated, which is almost impossible in Ca. If I had the $$$$ I'd probably have a new Husky or KTM. Oh well, you can only have so many toys.

I understand it varies by state, but exactly how did you get this plated in Ca? Not what kit you used but morso the legal ramblings/inspections, etc

Where are the mirrors and horn? That Starcross is going to last about 30 miles on the street B4 it's useless off road!

Regarding the Huskies, I have 5 freinds that bought them in 3 different states and they are not pleased, to say the least. Brittle plastic, virtually nonexistant dealer support and parts availability are their biggest gripes.

Husqvarna make excellent chainsaws, rifles, and sewing machines. But their bikes have always kinda sucked.

The chainsaw and motorcycle manufacturers haven't been the same company for quite some time. The motorcycles are currently made by MV Agusta in Italy.

ah, indeed. i believe you pointed that out once before. well, it sounds like they still have trouble competing, either way.

I had the DS kit purchased and installed by a local independent shop. They've taken care of all the DMV registration and VIN verification. I paid for 3 hours of shop time for the install and registration.
I still have to install the mirror, but no one has asked about it yet, the horn is part of the kit and is installed behind the light with the rest of the monkey motion stuff.
Because of the Holidays, I'm still waiting for the plate. Hopefully next week. The key to Dual Sport Registration in Ca. seems to be dual registration where you keep the green sticker and also get a plate. How do they do it? No flippin idea. I figured it was worth the 3 hours of shop time to make it happen.
My bike was in the shop with a CRF and a couple of Yamahas getting the same thing.

My New Ride

Just picked up an 01 cr250r. Its going to be my woods bike, it already has a 12oz flywheel wt and some other goodies.

I just rode it today for the first time, wow. The suspension has been revalved for my weight, unreal how smooth it was in the rough terrain.

Man I was dead set on geting another big four stroke, like a KTM or YZF or something but I am SERIOUSLY leaning toward a trail oriented two stroke, something like a CR with CR X setup. Thats a cool bike man.

had this almost together and done, was just working on shifter and brake pedal, then i took the back end apart to rebuild the hub...yeah, just like my cruisers, don't finish one project before starting the next. motor's up and running tho.
