ahh...PW50. Both my boys learned to ride on one. The bike is OK for learning/riding very modestly. When they start turning it up/jumping is when the fun ends and your welding/fabrication skills will be tested on the frame in the area of the steering head. Also start buying steering stem outer bearing races cause they go through them like candy. In time you'll get really good at changing them out in less than 30 minutes. Best mods by far are YZ80 serrated footpegs, cutting the end off the baffle, going up to a 65 mainjet and running pre-mix. These really clean out the carburation and alow the engine to perform MUCH btter. Pick up a fdew extra air filter elements, they're cheap, easy to change out and get plugged real easy due to the location of the airbox/airbox inlet.
Or do like most people and when it starts breaking big stuff it's time to move up.
good to know for future reference.
my boy was 6 in march and the girl turned 5 the day before I bought the bike, I looked at a z50 a couple weeks back, but it was just too big for him...
My wife grew up as a town kid, so kids on dirtbikes is kind of on the edge of her comfort zone, so getting a cute little bike that has a throttle stop and stuff has helped get her on board with the whole thing... hell she even took it for a spin!
probably next year we will get a bigger 50 one for the boy and then the whole fambly can ride together (wife inherited the pitsterpro when I got the xr400)
I have a few of these in the corner, over by the Dodge.
nice! what motor is that?
That is actually a prototype engine built by an Aussie named Dave Haynes. It is known in the speedway world as the Haynes engine. It is the only one that was built.
The frame that it is in is of my own design and fabrication.
