ahh...PW50. Both my boys learned to ride on one. The bike is OK for learning/riding very modestly. When they start turning it up/jumping is when the fun ends and your welding/fabrication skills will be tested on the frame in the area of the steering head. Also start buying steering stem outer bearing races cause they go through them like candy. In time you'll get really good at changing them out in less than 30 minutes. Best mods by far are YZ80 serrated footpegs, cutting the end off the baffle, going up to a 65 mainjet and running pre-mix. These really clean out the carburation and alow the engine to perform MUCH btter. Pick up a fdew extra air filter elements, they're cheap, easy to change out and get plugged real easy due to the location of the airbox/airbox inlet.

Or do like most people and when it starts breaking big stuff it's time to move up.

good to know for future reference.
my boy was 6 in march and the girl turned 5 the day before I bought the bike, I looked at a z50 a couple weeks back, but it was just too big for him...

My wife grew up as a town kid, so kids on dirtbikes is kind of on the edge of her comfort zone, so getting a cute little bike that has a throttle stop and stuff has helped get her on board with the whole thing... hell she even took it for a spin!

probably next year we will get a bigger 50 one for the boy and then the whole fambly can ride together (wife inherited the pitsterpro when I got the xr400, though she has yet to ride it)

Yes, I know that :princess: should've been wearing a helmet, and will in the future. She was just checking out how slow and easy it really was with the throttle stop turned in to what I deemed appropriate... when it started going she looked surprised and took it for a loop around the parking lot at the track... came back with a big grin. (AFAIK this was the first time that she'd ever ridden a motorcycle)
she's now raring to try out the chinabike :D

oh, the chinabike... I don't have a picture of mine, but it's an 07 pitsterpro 125
similar to this one (from a google image search)

Looks like a great place to learn. Flat, smooth, nothing to run into. Won't be breaking any frames in that field, just scratching plastic. Sturdy clothing, gloves, boots that cover the ankle and a properly fitting quality helmet are your best bets.

1978 z1000

This is 1978 Z100 A2 which began its long life in the USA before being imported to the UK 11 years ago. I have owned it for the last 7 and despite the tears of the purists out there, I have added one or two modifications - Still some way to go before I am finished...

f800gs

Here is my f800gs. So far I've added a HID headlight, crash bars, skid plate, tall windscreen (two different types), barkbuster hand gaurds, Jesse Luggage, and Pivet pegs. Getting ready for Death Valley in September!

Ran into this bike the other day.
Honda CBX that was converted into a V12.
He split two stock cases and made one out them.
Tank and all the body work is home built, well, pretty much everything is, in order to fit the motor. It has a fairing on it now and the front fender is gone, too.
Found the photo on the interwebs.

nice! what motor is that?

That is actually a prototype engine built by an Aussie named Dave Haynes. It is known in the speedway world as the Haynes engine. It is the only one that was built.

The frame that it is in is of my own design and fabrication.

Yes, the TLR has awesome torque and sound! Of all the bikes I've owned I think that's my favorite, just because of the engine. I just sold it a few weeks ago and I'm wishing I hadn't. :frown: It was a little too heavy and handling was a little weird, but the engine quickly makes you forget those things.

The VFR is even heavier and makes less power, but it handles like it weighs 100 pounds less, and it's slightly more comfortable. The factory hard side cases are nice too. It's a great bike, but it doesn't really thrill.

Here we are on the Tail of the Dragon earlier this year
