I did build a winch mount. It was easy. I have sketchup plans if anyone wants them.

As I said mike I'm also useing a late model gm column in it so that makes things easer as far as wiring but I do need some advice on doing the ps conversion cuz I cant use my stock column. The gm column is too long and I need some help with eather borrowing a wielding machine or finding some one to do the wields for me

Not having ever done a re-wire like this before I would assume that I would need the GM kit with the SBC 350 and I've heard that it's easier to use. I won't be much help on the steering column as I know nothing about them and put a welder in my hands and I can burn some holes in your rig if you need that done. :bang:

It's just really important to keep every thing together and organized

Did you fix it by tightening the screw on the bottom of the mirror?

nope, by superglueing the broken-off ear on again - and then some fiberglass reinforcement

Justin, that is one of those projects that I am scared of getting started with. I need to re-wire my rig as several PO added and removed stuff but there are wires everywhere that go nowhere. I have heard horror stories about doing a re-wire with the kits and have heard how easy it was. I am really interested to see your pics and get your overall opinion when you get done.

I used a Painless harness to rewire the 40, and it wasn't exactly painless, but it wasn't rocket science, either :meh:

the only tricky part is the circuit between brake-hazard-blinkers since the aftermarket kits do not provide for the connections that Toyota strung between those switches - that is if you want to use OEM switches; if not, it's even easier

easiest would be if you first make a list of things you want on the truck (in addition to the OEM provisions), and then select the harness with enough fuses for that and then mull over the wiring . . .

I used a 12 circuit Painless harness but also re-used the auxiliary fuse block that some PO had already installed on the firewall - I also used relays whenever possible - starting with an 18 (or more) circuits harness might be easier (if available; haven't checked into that lately; my re-wire was in 2005 )

additional considerations arise if you want to use a higher-than-stock-amperage alternator with the stock gauge cluster, and for any high-draw end user device

any aftermarket kit is compatible with a 350 in a much easier fashion that it is compatible with Toyota wiring :bang: (Painless, EZ, whatever they are all the same in this regard)

Thanks Claudia. That is just one of those projects that I need to work up to. The way things go for me is I fix one small thing and in the process I "break" something a little bigger. So, I fix that and in the process "break" something even bigger and so on and so on........

Anyway, this weekend I got the TRE changed out so I have steering again. And I tried eveything not to have to pull the rear diff cover but no matter what she was still leaking. Got the cover off and am going to clean it up today and paint it. Got to get a new drain plug bolt though. I mangled the one I have on those rocks. :bang: Gonna go back with the allen head type that recesses so this won't happen again. I'm also gonna see what JD can come up with for diff protection. I have a couple ideas.....

I think a portal axle should help... Or allow you hit on bigger rocks... Something like that. :)

Thanks, Cody Sent from my iPad using IH8MUD

Tools R Us welded a 'levee' around them each to protect my diff plugs :hillbilly:

nothing helps more than seat time - or levitation :grinpimp:

Got the diff cover off, cleaned up, painted and put back on. Now when the new drain plugs get here tomorrow I can fill 'er up and take her for a spin this weekend.

You need yellow shocks

Got the 100 muddy, then pressure washed it like crazy within 12 hours. :) h8 me some mud.
