What kind of dog food do you feed your dog?

dog food snobs?
I try to feed my dogs a reasonable food for a reasonable price.
I have owned dogs all my life and my parents have all of theirs. They have not had a dog live less than 13 years. My first dog is now 12 years old. Labs or lab mixes for them and for me as well except for my most recent additions of a Chessie and a daschund.
My parents had a dog that ate better than most people. She would go to the Safeway where my dad's cousin worked and he would give her out-dated meat. Briskets, roasts, etc. She lived to be about 14. Fat as a hog and almost got shot once when she was at the dump eating trash. The dump owner though she was a hog. She did not necessarily do better because she was on a meat diet and she still was a s*** eater.
The only thing that almost killed our dogs was when the generic food craze hit. Some of you will remember when there was an isle in the grocery store that was full of black and white packaging with names like "dog food", "peanut butter", "corn flakes", "tuna fish", etc. My parents bought some "dog food" and that s*** was bad. Dog was obviously getting no nutrition. Old Roy was probably better food.
I basically feel my personal cut point for dog food is 50 cents to 1 dollar per dog a day. I try to buy the best food I can for that price. I have found that dogs are hard to kill even if you try.
I don't buy into fillers being "bad" for a dog when they eat grass, objectgs of no nutritive value, etc.
BTW, all of my dogs are fatter than they need to be but I don't think it is because of the filler. They are getting more nutrition than they need.

Beneful high energy for my 1.5 yo Cocker pup, she seems to like it when shes not destroying the wires to my

more likely then most you pay a bit more now for a healthier dog that last longer and has less medical issues further down the road. In other words the money you would have spent in medical bills later in there life can be spent feeding them the good stuff so they wont have those issues
What the vet recomended. Enhance, I buy it a the local feed dealer.

When my dogs were still hunting, they received Pro Plan Chicken and Brown Rice Feb-July and Performance Aug-Jan.
Now the old bastard just eats Pro Plan Natural Turkey and Barley and sometimes Salmon and Brown rice.

Our 3 y/o Greyhound gets Nutro Ultra Holistic Adult Large Breed and Iams Adult Large Breed if we have an Iams coupon. Greenies for treats, Nutro Ultra Holistic Adult Large breed canned 3 times a week, bully sticks... lots of stuff.

After recently (two weeks ago) finding out my boy has Canine Lymphoma, He's been getting 80% meat and 20% dry food (Beneful).
The meat I give him varies. The included regular meats are Beef (raw & pan seared), Tuna (raw), Chicken (grilled), Pork (grilled), Salmon (raw), Sardines (canned) and just about any other fish both lightly seared and raw. I did a bunch of research about K9 diets and found myself sick to my stomach that I had been giving him 60/40 (dry/real meat). When I get another pup, it'll be eating 90% meat regardless of what it costs me.
