We also feed Innova. Specifically, Innova is the company, Evo Red Meats is the specific type. Very good stuff. Innova also makes California Naturals and then their regular "Innova" labeled food. HTH.
I feed my dogs Eagle Pack brand dog food. Good stuff. Same stuff a lot of the dogs in the Iderod(sp) race are fed. Its around $35 for a 35 or 40lb bag. It will make your dogs breath funky but has seriously improved my dogs coat and skin. My Brittany has bad skin allergies.
We've been giving him some extra attention since he seems sad. He still loves to fetch until my arm falls off though. I have to say that I am very surprised at his behavior. I know he knows something isn't right.
ON TOPIC:
We tried Purina = lots of runny poopy
We tried Pedigree = less than Purina poopy, but greasy coats
We tried Iams = decent coat, very active, big poopy (good food, but Barney still smelled because of the oil his skin produces)
and like I said we have now settled on the lamb and rice from costco. solid single poopy per day, shiny, less oily coat, and active.
We started feeding out dogs Canidae several months ago.
Our Boston Terrier had terrible digestive problems for weeks. We spent probably hundreds of dollars at the vet for them to tell us they still didn't know what was wrong. "Maybe an allergy," they said. We switched to the all natural food and everything cleared up in 48 hours. She's been fine over since.
I have fed raw for the last 10 years. If I was unable to, I would feed Canidae or Newman's Own. I have used both when my dogs were boarded or with their handler. They carry Canidae at most feed stores and Newman's at Walmart & Petco.
