What is this hole to the right of the steering column?

I assume something was originally in this?

In the United States: a plastic plug. In other countries: a hand throttle knob, kind of like poor man's cruise control or a way to keep rpms up when winching.

I installed one in mine. Use it all the time when I’m wheeling. Great for slow speed stuff in 4low. Keeps the truck from bucking at low rpm going over obstacles. Also use it for high idle while my air compressor is running when I’m airing back up.

I repurposed that hole for a switch that runs my auxiliary lighting on the front.

I used an FJ40 pull knob that I rewired. First pull is two lights, second pull is all four. Lots of uses for that hole in the dash.
