What is the largest tire I can fit with no lift? (1 Viewer)

Currently sitting stock, haven't installed OME, but put on KO2's, 285/75/16 with no issues. Great tires. Spare fits underneath fine as well, if that's a concern.

Btbowie,

Any side profile shots with the K02s? Looks beefy on a stock LC.

For what it may help with anyone looking to put a 33 on a stock 100, I fit 275/70/r18 Goodyear Duratracs with no rubbing but tight clearances, not sure how it would go with any articulation in the front end... should be able to speak to that after next weekend.

Anyone ever try to fit 33x12.5x17 on their rigs, either lifted or stock? I'm thinking the diameter is fine (33"), but it's the width (12.5") that might cause rubbing. There's a set for sale locally and I'll be in need of new tires soon, so I figure I'd ask.

I had 315/75R16 on my FZJ with standard suspension for a few weeks while waiting on new suspension components. Was fine on-road but not fine at all with a bit of flex off-road.

These come in at 12.40" wide and rubbed on mine when stock so I'm doubtful they'd work without rubbing on a stock 100. I had rubbing when lifted at full flex until I got the adjustable panhard rods in and aligned everything up properly.

BTW, this was 285/75R16 on standard suspension. Never had an issue with rubbing etc on-road or at full flex. That size tire was the perfect all-rounder. Used to get me just about everywhere.

I only went bigger as I needed a bit more clearance for the terrain I usually found myself in (and I'm not the greatest at picking lines) ;)

What wheels are you running? I've been looking for something similar without any luck.

Thanks for chiming in, Jason. While not exactly the same size tire, all signs point towards rubbing issues. Probably not worth the hassle, but it sure looks good!

Hi mate, they are 16x8 black steel wheels. Can't remember brand but very easy to get here in Aus. They are 0 offset though as mine is a LC105.

I've seen a few of the same wheels in 16x8 with 0 offset on the IFS LC100's and they look great. We just need flares to cover them up in Aus as they protrude out the edge of the guards due to the +60 offset of the standard IFS wheels.

Anyway, one thing I noticed was the aftermarket steel wheels are not hub-centric. Load is all on the studs whereas my genuine steel wheels actually located on the hubs (and probably transferred some load to the hubs as well?). I've got a set of custom wheels which comprise of genuine Toyota steel 16x8 centres (hub-centric) with Dynamic 10" wide bands and about -12 offset. Will get those on soon once I've finished painting them ;)

If I were you mate, I'd look into a 285/75R17 (33.8x11.2) or a 305/70R17 (33.8x12.0) for a bit more height (nearly 34") than the usual 32-33" sized tires most people seem to run. Even a 285 is plenty wide enough but yes, the wider tires do look good. The 305 at 12" wide might still rub without the correct offset wheels and/or lift as well as on a stock vehicle.

I'm no expert on what works for the LC100's, just though those sizes might get you a bit more height without going to a 315 or 35" sized tire.

Tag for GREAT info! Thanks guys.

Gotta ask, what seems to be the best tire for on road use with still having a good look?
I am leaning towards the BFG AT's?

I see you're in Michigan, I'd look into the GY Duratracs too. The BFGs are a great tire but the Duratrac in the snow is awesome. We get a little of the white stuff here in Colorado and I LOVE the GY in the snow, the KO2s again are a great tire but they are stiff and are not as good in the snow but I feel they have a better side wall and proven track record. Ymmv.

TIRES.
Maybe I can help someone since you guys have helped me so much through your solid advice.
I just bought this truck- 2001 model.

It came with "van tires", so I had 285 75 16 BFG AT KO2's installed on all 5 wheels. It all fits perfectly with no rubbing. I hope to get them dirty this weekend.

See before and after photos.

It looks so much more capable with the right tires and no running boards.
I can't decide on the circa 2001 brush guard. Should it stay or go? It gets a paint job if it stays.

Rod,

Thanks for posting those photos.....!!!!! Any chance you can get a true "side profile" shot of the truck?

I'm assuming that the truck has no lift (looks 100% stock)...

At this point, I'm totally conflicted between just slapping on a set of K02s in the stock size (275/70-16) or going up to the 285s like you just did and getting a "meatier" looking setup on there. Most of the photos of LCs with the 285s are lifted also (which looks awesome!) but I'm concerned that on an otherwise stock vehicle, the 285 might just feel/look a bit too crowded in the wheelwells???

I'd appreciate any feedback or comments you've got about your initial impressions of the tire so far.
