Didn’t know you were looking. If you look at the pic I posted this morning in the Brodie knob thread, you will see that the inside of my windshield frame is river blue, while the rest of the dash is something more like horizon, which is still different from the lighter blue I’ve seen on the mid ‘65s.

Pretty clean under there as well Mark. The Valley is always sunny— no June gloom or May grey like San Diego; what we put up with in SoCal in terms of inclement weather...

Started back on body work. This seam looked good until I sanded and picked factory seal out and rust on the horizontal where water would lay and seep in. I was also covered us by PO glazing compound.

No color to show yet, that will be tomorrow. Painter is working something like 4:00 AM to 2:00 this week to beat the heat. By the time I could get free to go visit, it was too late.

Got the tub back today. No real surprises. Floor pans might be a touch worse than I expected, but the rockers might be a bit better. Will discuss how much to patch and how many panels to replace tomorrow.

New rear frame rail arrived today from @Awl_TEQ in Canada. Outstanding part, well worth the time Kevin and I spent measuring and such several times over to get it right. Going to be really nice to get rid of that cobble-welded rail on the back.

First, let me just start by saying I loathe doing body work. What first started off as a fairly simple repair turned into a lot of work. Here are some before, during, and after photos. So glad this is done now. It's not perfect but the rust has been cut out, the cracks in the metal have been repaired, and all is painted somewhat nicely with rattle can and 2k clear. I did both quarters and the bottom channel.

After some touchup paint to sides and roof I've finally got everything back together. Installed new OEM weatherstripping around tub, sides, roof, and windshield.

Jan 76 build. Punch set was bought to build stripped AR15 lowers - my other hobby . . .
Got a few more things to work on as time permits - replace front door panels and install air conditioning. I finally had my OEM wagon wheels painted white and will try to get other set of tires mounted on Friday.

Got my NATO 10 liter Jerry cans today. Floor Mounts will arrive Saturday— I may buy one more to go 3 across depending on space. I was going to buy Rotopax fuel containers but decided to go old school

They are Smitty Built. I love them since my rig is a FST and I need lockable space. I have an electric winch (as addition to PTO which can mount on hitch) tools, fluids and a bunch of stuff in them.

Beautiful work, but aren't you building it too rigid ?

I have always been told that chassis and subframe have to be able to flex in order not to brake, too strong and rigid would give breakage on the weakest strongest spot.

Who knows?

Built my floor out of 10 gauge steel in ‘92. I’ve not had anything break yet. Flex is highly overrated... that’s what suspensions are for.

Although I would recommend gusseting the front Spring mount of the rear springs.

Finished up several projects just in time for our trip to the mountains and then on to Solid Axle Summit.

Wrapped up the Vintage Air install. Used their newest version with the high output blower and am glad I made the decision to upgrade. It blows well enough to cool you down with the top off in 95 degree Texas heat.

Finished off the roll cage install too. Next time I would install the AC before the cage. It's really tight fitting things up with the cage in.

Also got my soft top and installed it. It fits great and really quiets things down at freeway speed to where you can actually have a loud conversation. The AC also keeps it pleasantly cool too. I didn't get the top and extra canvas in time to have my soft doors recovered, so they are grey now but will be redone after SAS.

Also finished up my fuel can carrier. I used a regular driver side tube style tire carrier and converted / flipped it around to mount it to the passenger side. My idea was to have two matching swing outs that looked stock. The basket is from Metaltech and is really nicely made. Overall I'm very pleased with the carrier and keeps the stock-ish looking theme I'm going for.

My wife and I think A/C would be great to have in our FJ40s, it'll be good to see how your system is set up when we're at the SAS. Both FJ40s have '76 2Fs, with Tercel PS pumps mounted on the smog pump brackets. I'd especially like to see how the compressor is mounted.
