Got my new 4L60e transmission in, along with my Orion and new rear cross-member.

New Trans 1.jpg

Just have a little linkage work to do on the Lokar shifter (probably will use a bell crank-type lever) and new trans cooler lines, then the tunnel cover can go back on.
Twin sticks fit perfect with my new mounting plate, and come out in the original location.
I've been saving a cherry tunnel cover off a '70 with NO HOLES, now I need to convince myself I won't be changing the drivetrain again so I can just cut once (or is it cut twice, measure once?)
Got the p-brake and speedo cable hooked up.
Made the final decision on the trans-cooler and ordered it from Summit.
Ordered my new harness and reprogrammed PCM for the 5.3.

Took the family up to do a little wheeling in our 1974 FJ40. My 13 year old daughter that's huge into photography, took this picture with an old school Polaroid camera that she found. This was the first picture she had taken with the camera, she had waited a few weeks for the perfect shot. Doesn't surprise me she chose this as her first picture, she loves this Cruiser.

Thanks

I purchased the :
Pumpkin 7 inch Android 6.0 Marshmallow Car Stereo 2 Din in Dash GPS Navigation Radio Bluetooth Head Unit Phone Mirroring CAM-IN OBD2 3G WIFI

GPS antenna still having some issues however I think its the antenna itself I will need to trouble shoot it when I get back from overseas in June , I also added the ALDL Driod app which allows me to connect to my old OB1 Chevy computer . Allows me to monitor the engine at anytime , USB hub allows me to connect 64G drive as well for music , tech manuals and if necessary off line maps

Ordered some parts!! Spent way too much, but wanted to be sure I have some of the more aesthetic bits before they vanish: lights, emblems, dash pads t&b, visors, mirrors, etc. Along with a good haul of gaskets, seals, coolant lines and hardware. $168 for a new 3F oil pan? I'll take 10! Should be quite the pile once it's all delivered.

Got some ss hardware in the mail today!! I couldn't resist hitting the "add to cart" on the SS prop rod! ;)

Installed newly powder coated tail light protectors and steps. Installed new bumpers at same time using stainless steel hardware and never-seize lubricant. Found out that the 5/16" stainless steel flat washer is the perfect size to replace the 8 mm washers when I ran out of metric and went to the hardware store where they had the standard washers but not the metric. They were cheaper as well.

Yep... but in white. 2 tubes should do it
@imyahucklbrry I bought the Dicor and nowhere on the tube does it say how long the stuff takes to dry. Will probably be applying it at about 70 degrees, how long did yours take to dry?? Afterwards going to use the white topcoat.;)

It's on their website:

Approximate Lap Sealant Cure Times for 50-70° F weather:

5 Minutes – Skins over
4 Hours – Waterproof
48 Hours – Cure 80%
30 Days – 100% Cure

Guess it would be safe to paint after a month?

@imyahucklbrry wow, longer than expected, guess I will be painting it after the top is on;) Thanks for the info.

@imyahucklbrry wondering if using a heat gun after application would speed up drying??? Gutters and sealer today after work................

That might speed up drying but doubt it affects curing process... I think there is a small amount of petroleum in it that has to cure out. Probably best to wait...

Ok I will wait on the topcoat

New hubcaps from Toyota! Almost got wheels ready... now it's how to approach woman of the house with the desperate NEED for the new tires to complete this project
