FJ40 long range use?

Posts 46, 47 and 49. There's also a write up called 'Party of One.'

Great idea Mark!!

I do almost the same thing to travel with my dogs. I have a deck in the back with spares, etc under it. I remove the passenger seat back and place a plywood deck on the passenger side, from dash to back door.

But, my back requires 5" of foam and a ThermaRest Basecamp pad... So, I lay the sleeping bag out and cover it to allow my dogs to travel in comfort. We overnight in 44 and pitch a tent for multiple nights. Good sleeping for two Golden Retrievers and one old man!!

You feeling OK Danny after all the medical visits?

Opened it up like a can of Smoked Oysters!

Cleaned and prep'ed the gutters to get some new paint, a new gasket and some Dicor in the rain gutter.....Will also be removing the sides to clean up some rusty spots at the rear doors and will install new gaskets for those as well.

Best use I've ever seen for one of those cat play tower things...

Yep! Thanks for asking. I'm having right-eye cataract surgery on the 17th, then another month of rest before I can do anything. I think the epidural helped my back a bit. But, not as dramatically as I hoped.

How long did you wait before you had the second and third epidural?

I recently plugged the hole in fuel cover, changed the transfer case boot with real leather and finished up my dash console.

Pulled the smog pump, gutted it, refinishing the air cleaner housing.

I got started on my sag steering. Removed all the factory parts, cut the steering shaft back, Installed the firewall anchor, cut the front stinger & bumper off to make room for the steering box. Used a plasma cutter to cut & remove what I needed to install the Mounting plate. Then ran out of time and back to work Monday. Wait another couple weeks until I can get back to work on it again.

Any info on the FJ60 steering install?

I can go more into detail in my build thread. Dont want to mire this thread with my shenanigans

So you mount these in housings like these ones that normally take H4 traditional bulbs?

And they perform the same as traditional bulbs but with the advantage of much lower current-draw?

Sorry .... I'm rather ignorant about latest innovations..

Ya, the ones I purchased I could not find many reviews on. But I looked up the specs on the LED's that are used in these units and I think they will be bright. They are supposed to use 20watts per bulb as opposed to the 100watt per bulb halogen's I currently have. Their are some on ebay that are older versions, and I found a couple reviews of them and they were all good reviews. Here are the ones that have been around a bit longer and you can find some reviews on mud about them:
CREE MTG 72W 6400LM 6500K White Hi Lo Kit H4 Car LED Headlight Daytime Bulb Lamp
I think the people on mud that use them however get them through a mud vendor called lifetime led or something like that. But they are cheaper on ebay, just with less of a warranty. You can also get HID bulb retrofit kits for the h4 housings which are very bright as well and they draw between 30 to 50watts per bulb depending on version you buy. DDM tuning has inexpensive kits if you want to go the HID route and their bulbs have lifetime warranty.
Keep in mind that I have been looking into the budget route for me personally as I have a lot of other stuff to spend money on my 40 at the moment. Some people may decide to go high end with lighting options, in which case I haven't done any research on that route.
