What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Besides installing a OME steering stabilizer I also replaced the old rear bumper Step with a new one from City Racer, but not without difficulty. The silver bumperettes are bolted -on compressed so I had to secure them with tie down straps before I unbolted them from the bumper. Even after that they didn’t quite line up precisely with the step and the bumper bolt holes so it took a while to get the job done.

I also replaced all the old rear differential cover nuts with zinc nuts. Had a few nuts that were a little rusty so they came off with the studs. I lost most of the diff oil so I’ll need to do a refill with new oil in the morning.

All in all yesterday was a good day..

I'm sure folks like it but man that is ugly. Restomod is very tricky to pull off with class.
It would look good/better without those rims and with a 55 series mirror. Maybe some 16inch city racer wheels and 255 85 16s

My fuel tank started rusting out and clogging up my fuel filter and jets in the carburetor. My son helped me pull the tank, do some cleaning and install new fuel lines in preparation for the new tank.

It's good see kids taking an interest in that sort of thing plus the added bonus of father and son bonding!

In order to do anything I had to blow leaves that dropped within 4 days like a flooding rain And over ankle deep. I added the City Racer floor mat to the 45… I’ll add some rubber parts to fill in areas under the seat, replaced the clutch master cylinder and restored the pedal height to correct spacing. Added the missing return spring to the pedal as well. Painted the rear bumper and wired in the license plate lamps…the new dual horns and tediously re-welded the air cleaner after hammering out the dented top and re-painted…a very productive weekend despite getting dark at 4;30…! US congress…get your act together

The FJ45 is now reliably drivable and starts as good as new , warm or cold…EVERYTIME

by the way… @Skreddy i fully agree with you on the Rustoleum “silver nickel” paint color. For $7.00, it is way damn close to the Toyota pewter. Painted the rear bumper with it and I love it.

I can identify with that feeling! This weekend I put the first 6 miles on her in 7 years. Got it up to 30 on sketchy tires taking it to get the inspection. The mechanics gathered around and one of them came over and told me he was from Cuba where he sees FJs a lot. Fun to see folks get nostalgic over our baby.

It's a great feeling after all the work we put in. I drive mine every chance I get. People stare at it. Pretty funny.
I wish to keep that feeling for a long time.. .. My neighbor's face is unforgivable.. :)

"Unforgivable" BAD or Good? Some Karen in my HOA turned me in for having my 40 up on jack stands for a week. I had to take a photo of it off the jack stands to prove that it was not "out of service". The thing is it was on CLEAN NEW HARBOR FRIEGHT jack stands. Not like it was up on crappy cinder blocks. :)

KS has a similar view of collector vehicles. Register it and get a plate, but they allow any vintage tag to be displayed. (Photo not actually taken in KS for anyone unfamiliar with the terrain here.)View attachment 3473066
Sure looks like Colby KS to me!

I hope ...unforgivably good .. but I just started driving there... will see later... :)

My brother was told during the after effect of Hurricane Sandy that he could have a generator…..No power for 13 days… the neighbor bitched about it and the HOA told him he had to remove the generator. He is also into Mustangs…yep, you guessed it. either it’s in the garage or you can’t work on it outdoors for extended periods..the door (his front door) had to painted a special paint color number by Sherman-Williams…etc,etc. The after five years he said he had enough of this crap and sold the place, bought a house.

I'll fess up to using cement blocks but I don't have neighbors anywhere near by. As far as the blocks go they're about thirty years old and much more substantial than the ones they sell now. I wouldn't trust anything heavy on what passes for cinder blocks these days. I do have jack stands too and use them depending on the situation . but mostly my blocks. 😄

I was talking to a friend about cinder block once. He was puzzled and asked “do you mean CMU?” They now call them concrete masonry units…🤯

reminds me when they started calling them SUV’s instead of 4 wheelers… damn yuppies…🤣

For some reason, everything has to have an acronym. I've worked in the nuclear power and oil industries and they are the WORST.
