Seems we have something in common. We both have a 40 and a Triumph! Are you a member of Texas Triumph Register?

I was a member, but it’s been some years ago. I became inactive when we got a VW bus and spent all the spare time restoring that. It went to Mecum auction in Apri, then the 40 needed maintenance.

Gotcha. I’m still a paying member but haven’t been active in the club in probably 15 years. Too many other commitments. Now that we’re empty nesters that may change. About to tackle both master cylinders and possibly brakes on the TR3.

Fun to drive…….. when it was running! 🤣

The motto of all British cars (and classic motorcycles).

I had a '65 Sunbeam Alpine in college; any two-seater convertible was a chick magnet but it needed work every week to keep it running, mostly due to the Lucas electric equipment.

Nice TR3!

I could have bought a running one in decent condition from a co-worker for next to nothing (few hundred dollars) in 1973 but didn't; spent the money on motorcycle parts instead.

How much did you move the radiator support bracket back? I had to modify my support rods as they were pushing the top of the radiator (bracket, radiator and condensor) forward. While the bottom of the bracket was moved back, the top was not making the 4 condenser mounting screws hit the hood.
About 1 1/4". It still was not enough. I cut my condenser mount corner off this morning, the had to cut the underside flange off the front of my hood so it would clear. I couldn't move it back any further it would be into the ac pump. I don't run a driverside radiator rod due to my power steering box being there. Passenger side was okay though.

Over the last few months, not necessarily this week, but this week the last of it all was completed….. starting with a wash in the driveway and noticing the ammeter not charging, and wanting a set of those Kenda Klever 9.50x33-15 tires. And on & on… basic maintenance.
new alternator
rebuilt the starter
clean & paint the undercarriage
chassis lube
new shocks
new muffler
new motor mounts
rear brakes
rear wheel bearings & seals
brake & clutch fluid flush
tires
powder coated wheels
new hubcaps

That's a clean Yota you got there.

Hit me up if you want a hand with it. There was a Triumph dealership in my hometown that had your exact car on the lot. I wanted that car so bad but I was in high school and poor.

Thanks! Bought it for my Dad for his 50th birthday. He passed away 8 years later, and I’ve been it’s caretaker for the past 17 years. It was a one owner car until 1998.

Had a really great little outing in southern Idaho the other day. A friends teenage son has been building a Cherokee and he planned this route. It was good fun and nice to gain some elevation and get out of the heat. These peaks in the Owyhees have always captured my attention as a potential winter sports objective.

Doing something wrong if your lucas ignition is having problems in Texas! Try driving around London in winter and you'll soon adopt the rubber glove distributor fix - 5 fingers, 5 cables.

Dougal, that was ages ago when I lived in Colorado (as per the number plate in the photo), but yeah, I have experienced London (and Scotland and Ireland) in the rain; lived there for years as a young man and still visit the in-laws pretty frequently.

I started repairs on my dash pad. I would just buy a new one, but I want to put speakers in it and couldn't bring myself to hack up and fiberglass a new one.

First had to fix some areas that came loose from the metal support and straighten it. Then filled the cracks. Ready for glassing.
