Getting my new hard top installed.
I reached my goal today. Every system and function is now working. This includes the little things like windshield washer and such. Non factory stuff was removed. Aesthetics are decent but not perfect. I will now take a break and work on something else. I will consult with a real mechanic on suspension and drivability issues. There is a lot of dried out rubber that needs attention. Not having a lift I can not deal with it. I will make it a point to drive it now and again. I appreciate the help from everyone here.

Installed a new radiator from City Racer in the 40. Great product, OEM with cap and drain extension, all shipped in a double box.
The original from1978 was still functional, but had a persistent leak, probably caused by both of the side mounts detaching from the radiator body, Still, not too bad for for 45 years of hard service.

I used Valvoline 80W-90 gear oil from Autozone at $30 a gal. I was thinking of using the synthetic 75W-90, but that was over $60 a gal. I believe the 75W-90 was equivalent to the GL-4. With what I had before I'm thinking I'll run it for a bit and flush out the gunk with the 80W-90 and then do a rebuild sometime in the future and start using the synthetic 75W-90.

I can get really cheap synthetic 75-90… im pretty sure if you put synthetic in there it will leak.

Drove up the pass last weekend and camped over night. First over nighter off-road since rebuilding everything (only other time was a day trip that ended in a 40 mile tow).
I'd strongly recommend replacing the spring bushings, at a minimum.
Drivability and comfort is also an aesthetic, imo. New spring bushings will quiet and smooth out the ride.

Got this lump running. After the normal MMO and crank and wait and more MMO and wait and crank... put the plugs back in, squirted some gas in that old Holley, and 3 cranks later it started. Idles OK and doesn't make any weird noises. Couldn't run it for long it has no cooling system at all. Not bad for sitting for 25+ years...
Took a little trip.

Looks like they finally stopped putting daily limits on Glacier? Parking lot looks so empty at the visitors center, you're lucky!
The permit system is still in effect, realistically it's here to stay, but most tourists need to go to get dinner at their regular time.
Permit is required from 6-3 I think, after that it's open as usual but also crowded as usual until later in the evening.
So while everyone is driving downhill and back to the campgrounds, the rest of the park is open for enjoyment!
I know how to use their system to my advantage.
Nice!!!!! I replaced my hinges with some later model hinges but I still have my factory hood hinges but I need to replace one of the pins. I did not realize this was a solution! Do I just contact @SMG for these?

Ahh ok, you just nailed the timing. When I last went I just hit it before 6am and after 5pm I think? Still super busy then in August.
Maybe I need some tips on glacier before my September trip
