Started out with intention of just replacing heater valve but…….. noticed how crusty some of the radiator hoses and tubes for the heater/oil cooler looked so why not just do those too while the coolant is drained….. remembered that I had a new fan belt and since I removed the alternator to get to some of the hoses, why not do that as well……. alternator bracket looked kinda bad so why not clean it, prime and repaint while it’s off….. then realized this sh!t is getting outa hand!
Buttoned everything back up and got her refilled, burped and running to check for any leaks (none so far) :smokin:

Observation about the radiator hoses:
1. I didn’t have any issues but since I had no idea when they’d last been done, a preemptive strike seemed prudent! PO really loved him some worm gear hose clamps - I changed most of them to wire clamps from Toyota ($.43 a pop ain’t bad!) I liked the clamps that were included in the SOR set and decided to use ‘em.
2. I hope I never have to do this again - getting to some of the hoses/clamps left my knuckles and arms looking like I just broke up a ‘girl-fight’ 🤣

Well... after fighting it for 4 1/2 hrs this afternoon, I finally got it dropped back in. I now understand why this is not a 1-man job, especially if you’ve never done it before... let’s just say that the original removal was a heck of a lot easier!,

My hope is to have it all back together by next Sunday. We’ll then get to see if the “Mosley” runs as great as she looks. 👍👍

I still have to finish the Vintage a/c install as well.

Clock’s a tickin...

Continuing to fight the good fight in an inadequately lit garage. Resealed the transfer case and got most of the transmission done. Should be able to bring them back together again tomorrow.

Hoping to have this thing on the road again in 2 weeks.

I feel ya….It’s like going to the Stevie Wonder School of Automotive Repair. Everything comes apart and goes back together using your sense of smell….😎

To me, light is the most important tool. I cobble together all sorts of cheap lighting solutions in the past.

New garage will be like a film set when I'm done with it.

I started using the the folding, multi bladed LED’s. Night and day difference (pun intended).….☀️

Finally changed the glovebox plate from 3 speed to 4 speed after upgrade to 4 speed. Bought plate from mud member @shipmag as his is accurate (dimensions with no pre drilled holes). The one I purchased from Cruiser Corps had pre drilled holes that did not line up with glovebox door holes. I’m not changing my firewall plate as it says J30 and FJ40 L-UC which is general market truck from Colombia.

Then went for ride to see if the herring were running...not yet.

He was so serious, too.

I mean, who would want to undo this masterpiece?!

I formed a new #51 brake line since the old one has been breached with corrosion due to a battery explosion in the past.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be one piece.

The replacement line I got from NAPA had 10mm ends, but they wouldn't screw in to the fittings. So I clipped off all the B nuts, swapped the old B nuts onto the new line, and used my cheap Chinesium flare tool to create a double flare on both ends. Bent it to shape and tested it, and so far it looks good.

Freed up a frozen heater shutoff valve. Soaked the stem in PB Blaster and was finally able to get it loose. Liberal application of anti-sieze and it now operates with one finger. Tested and now no hot water is flowing to the heater cores in the passenger compartment.
