when you reassemble , obtain orange Toyota fipg trans axle sealant , apply well to all inner and outer splines to the shaft and brake drum , then use a cue tip and apply a generous amount where the hex nut you torque seats , this will prevent spline path of future leakage , this is a MUSTY DO ! don't skimp here , you follow prescribed above no leaks , you bypass , you will have minor to moderate seepage 100% guaranteed .........

Being where I am, I had to make another plan. Common old silicon sealant. It seems to be working. Tomorrow on the 80km return trip for the exhaust system we will see. The torque setting I put at 100 ftlbs. Had to jack the sucker up to do that. I fought the park brake for 14hrs today and eventually got it perfect. Nobody told me you have to disassemble the entire under dash gesmozzle, but that seems the only way to secure the cable. I had to do an 80km trip to get the cable shortened by 10mm but it proved to be the money shot!

Having done all that I decided to quickly set the lights while the bezel is off and drove up to our only "underground parking area and set them quickly.

It is amazing that this vehicle still has its factory lights. I say factory, and knowing that it lived its working life on a corn farm, if they went out at any time they would have been replaced with no name brand lights from the Co-Op. They still give perfect light. Sealed beams. Koito.

Cell phone photos not so good unfortunately.

I recently did all this work I wish I would have known this tip!

1 single toothpaste size tube you get , is MORE then enough

see 00295-01281 IS a non-hardening its stays pliable and fres inside the tube fore years if not a decade , if YOU install cap on correct and then tape it sealed with electrical tape , store in bag all air removed etc ............

its a space age product before its time

i say GLUE IT ALL Together and no leaks !

i just found this here on MUD , he exemplifies the use of Orange 00295-01281 fipg same in kind to all the above topic .........

Peramtex #2 non hardening sealant has been around for decades, and is recommend in the factory manuals for the same application on dana 18/20 tcases.

Installed the Flaming River tilt push button ignition steer column and momo street fighter steering wheel. I think I'm missing the ground plug-in for the horn. I was really disappointed with Flaming River hub adapter. I had to tap and die all the allen bolts and holes in the adapter to cinch down the wheel.

Tuesday Discount Tire called to say that the Pirelli Scorpion Muds that I was waiting on were discontinued. Then Wednesday they called to tell me that the replacements had arrived. So, I took Thursday off to put on some new feet... and shoes. :) So I'll show a before pic first. My 40 has stock springs, but with 5 inch shackles. These very old tires are 31x10.5 R15 Cooper Discoverer STTs, the old pattern.

All new OEM lug nuts from City Racer @Racer65

I don't know how these drive yet, or if they rub or anything, I haven't moved them yet. I tweaked my back a little bit jumping into the truck at the tire store, so I'm taking it easy. Man, new tires means things are getting real!!

Yesterday I installed the CJ seat belt kit from CCOT. As I don't have factory bucket seats I liked/needed the longer buckles. The kit was really nice and was really easy to install. I'm really happy with it.

Yesterday was exhaust day which included an 80km round trip. I'm now getting used to driving it - a big difference from the auto 3.0 CRD Grand Cherokee daily driver/pickup truck. The H engine is a brute, but runs out of steam at speed - 80km/h +.

Exhaust done I took a detour to pick up a clutch fork return spring from our local Toyota dealership and to show Abie the parts man what the cause of all the weird requests for NLA parts was all about. On the way home I could not resist another detour to test it out on about 5km of corrugated gravel road to the Fisanthoek Brewery. All going smoothly.

Today is paint touch up day. All the dings and scratches it got while being worked on.

Took my FJ40 out for a drive to celebrate first day of spring and the end of winter.
Also, watching this BaT auction. This 1970 40 is now bid to $68k. It’s wonderful to see quality restoration work not only getting fair bids but that they hold value. The truck was restored in 2013.

That particular auction and build was beautiful. Good to see folks still appreciate a classic.
That was a well built resto and exciting to see folks that appreciate them.

Replaced the door window vent rubber and the access hole covers; had my rear heater motor rebuilt, it was squealing from the bad bushings; and finished my RC 1/16 scale WPL FJ40, next to the Tamiya 1/10 scale.

What are you using for the RC build? A specific kit or seller? Very cool.

I got the 1/16 on Bangood

Great weekend so far.. Had a date with my wife by the water Friday night . Spent 8 hours today helping a friend and his father in law put an OME suspension lift on his 76. We didn’t finish but got pretty close. Along the way my son made a new friend.
