West side, white tanks
I won’t be too far from White Tanks come June. There is some nice 4X4 trails over there to explore? I have Mtn bike up there and trail run many times but was not aware of any dirt roads/trails for 4X4 exploring. Let me know. Tom

Brought Ruftoys in to work yesterday. Glorious sunny day. Couldn’t resist the photo op with another’68, basically bone stock, that I just got done doing a carb rebuild and tie rod end replacement job on.

Because there's nothing to do, I've been busy. Cleared out miles of unused wiring under the dash, yes I admit some of it was mine, cleaned up wiring under the hood changed lube in the diffs, adjusted brakes, put hubcaps on that I took off three years ago after getting new tires, washed and waxed it. Now I need to go get it dirty!

A little body work, quarter panels and rear sil - using real steel for all the metal. Body shop very impressed with quality. This started as a small patch job, but we discovered lots of bondo. Then as it was all open, the rear fuel tank that was purchased 5+ years ago needed to go in as well.

Now might as well paint the truck — right?

Horn wasn't working, or was, but intermittently, so I pulled off the steering wheel cleaned off the points of contact but it still didn't do the trick. So I figured I would start from the source and work my way back. I had no idea there was even a horn relay until I checked the wiring diagram and then went into the hood and sure enough there it was. So I figured it could be a bad relay, but it also looked a little rusty and corroded so I figured let me just see if cleaning these connectors does the trick. Several minutes after sanding the points and removing the rust I plugged it back in and works like a charm every time I press the horn. Lesson learned, start with the easy solutions and work your way up as needed.

Steering wheel restoration. Purchased a beat up wheel for $50 on eBay for parts. Could not find the small horn buttons and internal horn contacts for sale. Took it all apart. Cleaned, replaced parts, filled plastic cracks, painted and all ready to go. I have a left over horn button and some other parts and screws if anyone needs them.
