Nope, factory Toyota/BBS

I looked up those tires as well. I'm not going to be looking for any "meaningful" profit on those.. just need them gone. Simple enough

Would it be worthwhile to take a light wire wheel to the back of those? Or would it remove too much of the substrate along with the rust?

I once had a wheel ruined by discount with their aggressive cleaning.

I prefer to use sandpaper and a nice flat piece of wood.

I was thinking a very high grit sandpaper maybe? I plan to address that..

Not sure the best option there. I have silver wheel weights I need to remove too. My OCD won't allow that haha.

Otherwise they are in really nice shape, I'll get everything sorted out

I’d imagine sandpaper with low enough grit count would likely do the same thing. Probably a situation that you can always sand more. Just can’t put it back on.

Agreed, but the point of the board is to at least keep things flat. I didn't mention using light, even pressure, which is actually just as important.

As long as I'm not too aggressive with things it should only remove the high spots, which would be build-up. A wire wheel can absolutely remove aluminum, and that is what messed up the wheel I mentioned.

For someone with steel wheels? Go to town.

Thx bloc!!

Did you taper up in a higher grit or just use say a 2k grit paper?

What seemed to work best for you?

It has been a while since I did it but pretty sure it was only one stage and medium grit. This doesn’t need to be a perfect surface, just clean and flat.

Also reinforcing the “all firefighters love Toyota trucks” theory I have.

I’ve worked at a fire station with 9 total employees in the building, 7 of which were driving some form of Toyota.

Are these HE wheels powder coated in black? I hope not. That would be a sin.

I would be surprised if you are able to sell these tires for a meaningful price. I was going to buy one for my spare and brand new in DT they are less than $200 OTD. I did not buy them though.
Tundra Pro TRD wheels. Same wheel as used on the HE, just a different color.

These are the ones. I think they’re Walmart exclusive. So far they have been decent, road noise isn’t bad, but load range E so a bit stiff.
Walmart purchased to rights to produce the ATs from Cooper. They are the previous version of the AT3. I ran them on my 4Runner and were a good tire (and ejected rocks amazingly) but the AT3s have a stronger sidewall.

Test fit Zeon winch controller. Will see how this hold up. Hung from grill mount point and plastic radiator shield. I changed out some of the plastic push clips with bolts and screws on the shield. Also cut the 72" power leads down to 53".

A few weeks ago I added BG Platinum 44k fuel additive, anticipating the work today. Within a tank, responsiveness was better.

Today I removed, cleaned, and reinstalled the throttle body. Clearly prior service I paid for didn’t remove and clean it like they said they would. The pattern of deposits on the back side looked older, thicker, and was harder to remove than the film around the rest of the throat, which came off easily. A little extra time, cleaner, and a bit of elbow grease got it all.

I am a first timer doing this, and it’s like 🍌🍌 at best. Maybe 40 minutes at most. (I also cleaned my 2021 GX 460 throttle body while I was in the mood. Much lower mileage, even easier to clean up.)

Don’t put this off - It’s one of the best bang-for-your-buck DIY maintenance items to save money. This is a way over priced item if you pay for it. Plenty of guides out there to help. I think I saved about $600 today between both - compared to dealer pricing.

Good work.

If others attempt this, the gasket behind it has an integrated mesh strainer to avoid bolts or other unwelcome objects getting into the intake and nuking the whole engine. The mesh portion can be cleaned but the gasket is silicon, can compress, and is technically considered a non-reusable part.

22271-38010 and it's pretty cheap.. under $10
