Washing mud off from the weekend followed by buffing the recent clear coat repair. Before I know it I'm buffing years old scrapes and scratches from the paint. I hadn't planned on spending this much time on the body.

Pieced together the Dissent no cut Latching Jerry can basket. Intimidating when you first look at all the pieces and bolts but everything makes sense and fits perfectly.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could have it on the back of your truck 😝

Something new coming soon to the Land Cruiser thanks to ARB 4x4 Accessories and Danny Spitery at Southern Off Road in Pelham, Alabama.

Built a modular drawer/shelf system out of plywood and extruded aluminum for our recent road trip. This kept everything in its place for the 10 day trip. Wish I would have done this sooner!

Drawer is a full length 36" Ryadon. Had no issues at all with a full cooler.
How do you have that hose attached to The cooler drain? That’s pretty nifty.

Got to work on installing solo KISS drawer. Figured out the mount and started to see what I would need to alter on the rear weathertec mat to allow it to remain. Probably just trim the pad where it sticks up on the driver side and lower the lip on the edge in front of drawer?

Busy week—got the truck back from the body shop after the slip up in March. Back to new, and they polished out the entire truck…so it looks better than when I bought it. I also had them add tint, especially now that it’s getting warm again. 35% on the fronts, 20% on the rear.

With the drawers out and the truck back from the shop, I managed to finally finish up some wiring.

Added front and rear cameras through the VLine. Super-clunky way to get video in, but I’m finally more or less in the modern age.

(I have fixed the upside-down front view. )

Replaced the rear tails with the eBay LEDs. Great view of the emblem glue that won't come off, even after the polish.

Van Goes was my body shop here in SLC. Good dudes. But that sticker will go as well—I like a naked look.

I started a dual battery system weeks ago as it started to get warm. The fridge was cycling my battery too far down, and I got some really slow starts on hot days. After almost 3 weeks Interstate finally got the order in stock. It’s the Slee trays, the Interstate AGMs Slee recommend, and the National Luna kit from Equipt. I could probably have saved some decent coin by going with another brand battery (and would have had I known how long it would take Interstate to fill the order), but this was easy.

And added the Trail Tailor antenna mount. I didn’t read the description very well, so I had to drill it out to 3/4” (or maybe 13/16”?) for my NMO. I just zip-tied it until I could fetch my stepper bits.

While I was in there, added a factory sub. The entire box was missing, not sure which PO (I’m #3) took it out. The sound is slightly better, and I only paid a hundred bucks for a new unit with one broken tab. The sound is definitely not worth the $500-ish dealer price.

My sliders are missing now. I did such a craptastic job painting them last year that they were alternating splotches of rust and black. I’m in an urban apartment and occasionally park on the street, so without a garage or space to do it right I just had the body shop do that as well.

Next up is to put the drawers back, and go find (finally) some dirt.

Awesome .. is it more fun to drive around town now?

What model Goodyear are those tires ? Never seen them before.
Yes, I’m really liking the feel of 2WD around town. Steering at low speeds feels “easier” or maybe lighter is a better word for it. Of course there is zero torque steer now. I could be wrong, but it actually feels like accelerating from a stop it’s a bit easier to get moving. I had a bit of vibration at hwy speeds that is now completely gone.....makes a noticeable difference when you’ve got fewer rotating parts.
Looking forward to my fourth trip this year to Big Bend next week to check out how it performs differently than AWD on River Road(and the hwy getting there) pulling my Cricket.
With the exchange rate between the Aussie and US $$ the whole setup, with bearing on spool, cost less then $600 shipped.

The tires are Goodyear Ultra Terrains.....sold exclusively by Discount Tire. I’ve got about 3k miles on them and loving them so far.

Installed my front mudflaps tonight. I ordered the wrong amount of bolts, so I ran over to Ace for some grade 8 bolts to hold the brackets to the body. I chased the body threads with a tap and cleaned out behind the wheel skirts, before installation. I swear a seed had sprouted in one of the piles of compost in my wheel arch.

Found a new place for the ham mic - those Nite Ize Steelies work real well.

Thought I'd finish the ham coax/antenna fix too.
Had to rip out the old coax since it was out of spec according to the antenna analyzer.
Put new coax in and when I put the new PL-259 on it, found out the reducer sleeve was too narrow. @#$%^%$##@

Since I had to enlarge the diameter of the reducer sleeve for the Comet coax (3.5D QEFV for those who may run into this) and couldn't finish the job, I decided to create an antenna holder out of PVC instead (below). Fits perfectly in the dead spot right behind the second row seats (above).
