Goblin Valley is an amazing place! If you have time, look at the Ding and Dang loop. A very fun, picturesque, and moderate length (6 mile) canyon hike. Not quite a slot canyon, but mildly technical adventure. Miss the place!

X2 on goblin valley, we were there last Sept. then cut over to Capitol reef via: wild horse and factory butte roads very cool area

I noticed a slight antifreeze smell outside the truck, it took a while but I finally found the leak.. the water pump was slightly leaking . I pulled the receipts from the PO and saw it had only been 50k miles since it’s last TB/WP job. The previous TB job before that, showed to have been done at 125k . So I ordered all the OEM parts for replacement, this is a job I wasn’t comfortable doing so I had a Toyota mechanic friend do the job. I was a little disturbed at what he found.he said the belt looked like it it might had been changed once and he has seen 200K belts look better as this one was cracking pretty bad. ( my rig is currently at 235K miles) the water pump was some unknown China brand, fan bracket was also china junk. And serp. Belt tensioner and pulley original. So the shop that did the job 50k ago probably didn’t change the belt, and used the fewest and cheapest parts they could and charged him $1500+
I have a upcoming 3 week Utah trip in a few weeks , so I guess it was a blessing the pump did leak when it did.
I’ve always tried to do all my own work and have a real distrust in a lot of shops. This just reinforces my fears and distrust. I know there are great shops out there, I have found one local, but it seems they are badly outnumbered.

Wow, glad the weep hole did it’s job and you were able to sort out and fix the other concerns before you were stranded somewhere. It sucks when people cut corners to save some $$$ and kick the can down the road for someone else to deal with. St least now you will have the piece of mind the issues are fixed correctly. Have a great trip!

I've been making pretty good progress getting the 100 series ready for a trip to it's permanent home in Texas. I have been stuck in the Newport News, Virginia area for the last 5 years and I can't wait to get back home for good in the next few weeks. Last month I installed this timing belt kit along with a new thermostat and crank/cam seals. Within this past week, I have been knocking things out like crazy. First I went to the auto hobby shop on base to change out all of my fluids. After I got it home I noticed a crack had developed in the radiator so I switched it out the next day. This is something I knew I needed to do when I bought the thing a few months ago just going off the discoloration but just kept putting it off. Got it knocked out the next day.

On Tuesday my long list of parts I ordered from McGeorge Toyota came in and I started knocking things out that day.

First were the brakes and rotors. I bought it with 210,000 miles on it and don't think the rotors have ever been changed. The front brakes were scraping but the rears were actually decent. Surprisingly I had no trouble getting any of the bolts or the rotors off. The passenger side rear tire was stuck but it wasn't anything a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick didn't solve. Also completed but no pictures were the wheel bearings using the kit from Cruiser Outfitters.

Then the last thing on Tuesday was what I thought would be a simple serpentine belt change but my brain wasn't working so it took me a minute to get it routed even looking at the diagram...but we're all good now.

Today, the valve cover gaskets and spark plug seals will get knocked out and then I think we will be ready for the 1600 mile trip back to the promised land that is the great state of Texas. 🤠

So ... After F#*CKING up the lift on my 2006 Cruiser over the weekend, I got it back from the shop today. OME lift complete and installed, complete with SPC UCA's, TB's, Panhard Bar, and Extended Sway Bar Links. While it was in the shop, I had them replace the rotors and pads, which fixed my "pulsating brakes". After picking it up, I had the wife take it to Discount Tire and get new 295/75/19 Nitto RG's installed.

Big shout out to:
- @cruiseroutfit for OME lift kit
- @TRAIL TAILOR for the Panhard and an sway bar links
- @uzj100 for recommending renaissance auto in Raleigh!

Got all the grease fitting filled. My guess is that it has been a long time! The front u-joint only took a few squirts to “fart” out, but the fittings for the long shafts took close to 20 before I noticed it was pushing the shaft away from the fitting (no noise or overflow though). The rear shaft fitting took at least 25 squirts to do the same. My gun says 40 squirts = 1 oz. unusual? Either way the thud when switching between D and R is gone and so is when coming to a stop and then leaving off the brake. Replaced the DS parking light, too. The outer plastic cover was broken off at purchase. Thanks to one of our local, nearly domestic mule deer, I have some other work to do this weekend, too.

I got rid of my roof-rails, and finally got my snorkel mounted.

Now, mounting the snorkel took more than twice the time I thought it would. Removing the old air-intake was a bit demanding, but getting the connecting-hose on to the air-filter box was a real pain. But with enough lubrication and a bit of patience it went on.

Replaced rear LCAs I ordered from Partsouq. I had to lift up the driver side a little to align the bolts. My LCAs were 21 year old originals and the bushings didn't look too bad so perhaps this was not really needed. Took me about am hour for both sides. Still have to do UCAs.

The factory rack and Yakima cross bars were not going to cut it in any off-road situation. The ikamper is just too big. Ordered the Gamiviti tower mounts and they are legit. Great product and great communication. Used some 80/20 I had laying around for the cross bars. Just waiting on the long side pieces I ordered from 80/20 to ship so I can get those mounted. Should make for mounting some area lights and my awning much easier.

Replaced these OG looking links and bushings with Moog links and SuperPro bushings.

The rig feels tighter with these 35s thumping about, going to do the rear components next weekend.

My drivers side link has been broken for at least a year. I've been sitting on new Moog links for 4 months. I'm a world class procrastinator.

Got a trip next week, been traveling recently and ran out of time, had the shop do it.

Funny part is the mechanic call me upset that there was some kind of oil leak that had sprayed all over the undercarriage. He can't figure out where it came from. I had to explain Krown ;)
