5 hours of masking and taping the black portions- filled the small black dimples in the silver part with Vaseline instead of taping- then 3 coats of black primer followed by about 10 coats of dupli-color bronze wheel paint. The Toyota emblems pop right off, so did the same painting process with them.

Looks like you had a nice trip! BTW- Thanks again for the Primitive Campsite recommendations. Unfortunately, none of them were ava when I arrived Wed afternoon. I ended up at La Noria 2, Glenn Springs 1, Terlingua A 2, amd Pine Cyn 5. I did take the river road east to Black Gap Road, then River West, Maverick. The blue bonnets were still in bloom but fading. Amazing place and can't wait to go back. Cheers!

Glad you had a great time! BBNP is a truly amazing place to see (from October-April). Terlingua Abajo2 is awesome IMO. Great place to stay for an early sunrise visit of Santa Elena Canyon. Glen Springs 1 is great too as it's in the heart of the park and at the beginning of Black Gap. I can't believe you got one on Pine Canyon.....that one is usually booked solid year round. Great trailhead there for the Pine Canyon Trail to the waterfall. La Noria would be the only "boring" one out of those and it's not bad as it's on Old Ore.

Next time you go, reserve some time to drive all of Old Ore Road and go over to Terlingua Ranch so you can drive Christmas Mountain. Also, make a stop in Terlingua Ghost Town and eat at the Starlight Theater.

What I will be doing this weekend. Props to Jason on these lovely UCA's.

That's what i have. As heavy as the cruiser and can get it's wheels off the ground easily and reliably. I love it.
Nice - I have the orange one I bought off the display rack - with a little pedal that raises the pad quickly up to the point of contact. makes it much easier to get it right where I want it.

I just got a set of those yesterday. They are definitely beefy. Plus the installation was all kinds of fun, a definite bonding experience with my truck

Finally got the correct fronts in today. Hopefully I can get these on after work this evening!

Nice !!

What shocks are you replacing? Will be interested to know back to back comparison.
Yeah, I’m replacing both the front and rears with Icon Stage 3. I’ve been really pleased with the setup I was running. I’m still very, very impressed with the Tough Dog adjustables. I just wanted the extra travel of the icons. Especially the 3/4” of droop I hope to gain in the front. It will have to be pretty impressive to be worth it over the Tough Dogs though. I probably won’t be able to really give a good review or comparison until HIHs.

I have a feeling the Tough Dog is still going to be the best suspension for the money.

Very curious about the added droop. A guy on Facebook just posted today about blowing through Toyota CVs in 5k miles due to suspected longer droop...he measures at 75mm. He's on Icon Stage IIs.

Yikes! I wonder how much of that 5k was off road? It would probably take me 4 years(or more)to do 5k off road.

I replaced my SPCs with Jason’s UCAs to get the most travel I can. Plus I just replaced both my front CVs with new oem Toyota. I hope to get at least 10k miles!!! o_O

@geanes I’m also not planning to lift the front any higher than I am currently. I’m hoping to get somewhere between 80-90mm.

Any big watch outs on changing out the UCA's? Doing the work this Sat.

Make sure you have a 24” prybar and rubber mallet JIC. Jason says some go right in and some don’t. Just a variation between different cruisers. Mine were SUPER tight. As a matter of fact I’m still working on the passenger side arm. I hope to get it this evening.

Got my new @TRAIL TAILOR UCAs on. These things are super nice! All I have to do now is put the shocks on tomorrow evening and then button her up. I’m loving these long days and having an hour to wrench after work. Thanks again Jason!!!

This will happen 100 percent if you do some hard core wheeling and have times where you get a front tire hanging in the air (the 100 series wave). I was seriously considering limiting straps for the front before selling my last 100 series with the icon stage 3 setup.
