Just got my ScanGauge in for the Lexus. Have had one for years on the Land Cruiser.

Hoping I can figure out how to access the Xcodes and come up with something that will provide me with Transmission Temperatures. Seems that is kind of 'hit or miss' depending upon year model and what codes are tried.

Hopefully this saves you some Googling time:

TXD – 686AF101B4
RXF – 044105B40000
RXD – 2808
MTH – 00090005FFD8 for deg Fahrenheit (000100010000 for deg Celsius)

I use this for my '99 and it works flawlessly.

^^^^^^^^ Thank You, that matches what I have found here elsewhere and was going to try. Good to have confirmation. So...if I get it all punched in right, maybe it will work for me as well.

Again, I appreciate the reply.

Keep me updated bud. Supposedly there's a few different codes, but I can't imagine the ECU would be different from a 470 to a 100.

I’ve been cleaning the garage and reorganizing my tools to make it easier to work on the LC. This also gives me a dry space to work on it on rainy days like today.

Anyway, I found a bunch of old audio cassettes in a box. The kids and I sat in the truck for about half an hour listening to tunes.

What did I do to the truck? Today I removed the engine cover, before it started raining, to see if any of the foam was missing. Yep, one of the foam pads is missing. I bought some pipe insulation foam at THD, but I’m thinking it won’t stand up to the engine heat.

When I put the engine cover back on, I realized whoever worked on the engine last did not reconnect a cable in the rear to a plastic clip on the back of the cover. I’m not sure if it was the loose cable, or re-seating the engine cover (haven’t added any new foam), but the rattle at idle in drive or reverse is gone, for now at least.

Bad news is, the rattle I thought was resolved by creating space between the muffler and body is back under heavy acceleration or engine load (like going up a steep hill full of passengers).

Well...the Wifey finally got home with the LX470 so I got a chance to hook up the ScanGauge. Muddled through the instructions and got the Trans Temp to work using the Codes you cited (Thank You).

My only concern was that it was showing 177° F. at idle.....EEEEEK! I know it had 'heat soaked' some since it sat there about 20 minutes after being shut off from a 45 mile trip, but my 80 series A343F transmission has never been over 165° F (towing uphill). Usually it is about 130-140 at most.

Maybe the 100 series run a little hotter than that? I will check in the morning when it has cooled down and take it for a test drive. Nice to be able to see the transmission temp and the coolant temp right below it.

Edit: OK, checked everything this morning. This is more like it.

Which dash cam do you have?
My current forward facing camera is the AUKEY Dashcam. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072FGL63X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Exceptional camera and audio quality. menu navigation is straight forward, have it mounted right next to the rear view mirror mount.
My rearward facing is the Pruveeo F5.(https://www.amazon.com/Pruveeo-F5-W...d=1524897528&sr=1-4&keywords=pruveeo+dash+cam) i have this mounted on the rear windshield towards the left to not block visibility.

IRON MAIDEN  Tapes:clap:

Of course there are Iron Maiden tapes, man! I have a box full of tapes somewhere in the attic I need to dig out, too!
I threw all of mine away after hauling them around for 25 years, then I got the cruiser and wish I had them all back. I found Van Halen 5150 and just found Hysteria a couple weeks ago. Experiencing the tape quality and the kids wondering why it takes so long to skip to the next song takes me right back to the 80s :smokin:

Nice! I’m pretty sure my Van Halen tapes are in the box in the attic, along with a whole bunch of others.

When it came time to either store them somewhere or throw them away (no tape player in the new car) I just couldn’t throw them away.

I might still have a dual deck tape player somewhere in a bin. Time to start my own bootlegging business through eBay!

fixed the short in my DR speaker, lose connection inside the panel. Added some more dynamat to the DF door to try and kill a rattle, no luck. Not sure how much more I can do there without applying a layer to the outward facing inside panel, which would be a royal PITA.

Also crawled around under the truck for a good half hour with a flashlight looking for the source of a clunk or rattle that occurs sometimes when I go over sharp bumps, no luck. Everything looks tip-top.

Installed the AUTO-VOX M1 into my 2001 LX. I installed the camera just above the license plate, routed the cable through the lower tailgate, spliced into the drivers side reverse bulb and routed the cable to the front. With just 1 wire to splice, seriously one of the easiest backup camera installations I've done.
