Main portion of rear bumper is completed. I still need to finish up a few things like capping the end on the swing out and the main 2x4x.25" section. Bend up some corner pieces and that's a wrap. Changed up the factory hitch a bit, and tied it into the frame using the 10 factory 14mmx1.5 pitch bolt locations that are in the rear frame area. Factory hitch was only connected with 6 bolts. All structural pieces are made from .25" plate and the main rear piece is .25" 2x4. Learned a few things, like I do every time I undertake a big project like this. Hope to have it finished up by the end of the week.

I didn't figure it was. I have been shopping around for a 27F a little bit. My current 35 group optima warranty expires next month and I have a feeling it will be a matter of weeks.

Any reason you went with that brand?
I did a lot of research before deciding on the northstar 27f. I was originally planning to go group 31. After all the reading it was apparent that the two very best battery options are Odyssey and Northstar. After even more reading and looking at the Northstar 27f I just couldn't see moving to the group 31 when the 27f was so close in performance. Odyssey doesn't make a 27f so that made the decision even easier. Here is just one of many articles on Northstar: The Best AGM Battery No One Knows About

You can buy a relabeled Northstar @ Batteries Plus (they call it X2Power), I bought a 24F for my Camry. I ordered it online and picked it up (if you have one near by). My LX will get the X2Power 27F when my current Toyota 27F dies.

I replaced the evaporator gasket under the dash. Quite a bit of debris in the box. Vacuumed it out, brushed the evaporator fins and vacuumed it again. Getting the cover out and in was a slight pain, but hopefully everything seated back correctly and I won't have any more leaks. All in, a couple of hours, taking my time, eating dinner, playing with dog...

I bought mine there, they had it in stock - best part is they have some ability to wiggle on price so don't be afraid to hem and haw - saved me $20 ;)

Finally completed my Pioneer AVH-4200NEX install. Having a backup camera and a stereo system from the century is amazing.

Also knocked out fixing my HVAC auto sensor (works great now)! Discovered as well that I've got the slot for cabin air filters, so that's next to buy. Will be cutting off my rear mudflaps soon too. Pics when they're gone.

My hood and hatch struts were weak. I ordered a new set of 4 for $32 off of Ebay and installed them. They did not seem to be the quality of the OEM but hopefully I can get 10 years of of them.

Charged the AC as I seem to have developed a small leak. Used some 'stop leak' R134a, should be good to go since the leak is obviously quite small...

Need one with just some surface rust as opposed to borderline perforated?

Eh, shipping on something like that would be a mess. Fortunately it's just the accessory bits, the actual frame is just fine, no rust at all.

If anyone tells you trucks from Utah are rust free since it's the "desert", they're lying. Stupid lake of salt.

Every SLC rig I've bought has been RUSTIFIED and needed cancer treatment. Some have been worse than others, but nothing compared to Canada or Northeast rigs I've dealt with.

-Replaced rear springs with OME 2865's.
-Replaced all dampers with OEM Toyota.
-Replaced upper and lower rear control arms.
-Cleaned air filter (AFE).
-Lubed up some seals with ShinEtsu.
-Did a general check in prep for our trip to Colorado!!

(still have a total front end rebuild in boxes in our garage, but that can wait...)

I too just replaced my hood struts and replaced a frayed tailgate support cable at the same time.
