How are you liking the ko3’s ? Any chance you previously owned ko2’s? Definitely look better dusty 😎

I just replaced the 285/75R16 KO2s on my 99 LX with KO3s in the same size. So far it seems the typical “new tire, vs old tire” improvement, but my local discount tire had 5 KO3s on the shelf, where KO2s would take a few days.

Found a great deal on OEM CV Axles and picked them up from the parts shop (no shipping :)). I took some PTO to have a 4-day weekend and installed a diff drop kit, replaced CV axles, wheel flanges & hardware, and flange gaskets. I had new diff oil seals on hand, but the existing seals looked and felt new.

I also measured my front suspension droop while I had it up in the air, which confirmed my suspicions that the lift was cranked up too high (had it adjusted at a local shop, but they dialed it in level rather than raked). I adjusted the torsion bars to reclaim almost a full inch. That restored the proper front-to-back rake with slightly more than a 2-inch lift. Once I had all the parts replaced and set it back on the ground, I could see a HUGE improvement in the CV angles. Seeing space between the boot ribs gave me a warm fuzzy.

The original CV snap rings were too thick (Ds), so I ordered some alternate sizes (learned something there). Also found this tool and hopefully will have one on the way soon (learned another thing there). Ol' Sweet will sit in the driveway until I can put the new snap rings on, though it pains me to not be able to drive it. I'm dying to see if the vibration when accelerating is now gone. The old CVs were OEM but flopped like a ragdoll when I removed them. I guess 230k+ miles will do that.

This past weekend was a combination of learning new things, gaining confidence in my abilities, and getting desired results from my efforts. I can't wait to drive it again. Like I'm jonesing over here.

Thanks for posting. I’ll check back in in a few weeks to get your rain, Highway, offroad - miles feedback 👍

I love more sidewall on the 16s

Are people finding the newest version of KO3s in stock, or the original KO3s? Given that they altered the design so fast on a brand new tire, it makes me wonder about the first ones that came out.

Good question. I saw that video.

My wife is due for new tires before it snows - she’s running down her 3rd set of ko2s. Would like to pick up either the ko2 or ko3 for her. No ko2 vs ko3 videos with actual miles - just tread differences

Anyone feel free to post up personal experience

The ones that I picked up appear to be the updated, or non OEM version.

(I can’t imagine any currently manufactured vehicles using 285/75R16, but 275/70R18 might be a different story)

New Master assy as PM!

Yes, I know, crazy! But at 290k miles, the old one was tired, noisy and the fluid was getting dark minutes after a flush.

After installing the new one I felt a major brake improvement, just brush your foot on it and the 100 stops!

Also replaced pass side hose, it was a bit crusty

While working there I saw this, didn't pay attention, I thought it's a piece that was broken in the past and couldn't identify..

Until my brake light wouldn't turn off..

And here's the piece.. goes on top of the pedal to press the switch.

Had to special order from my local T dealer, till then it's a zip tie sensor hybrid..

Where did you get the insulated fuel line cover?

Do you miss the auto dimming mirror function at all of the stock mirror? Does the brightness of the screen adjust automatically when driving at night?
The mirror is tinted straight out of the box so no problems with losing auto dimming. I haven't noticed bright headlights in my mirror if that's what you're concerned with. I actually find it more usable at night especially when verifying my blind spots.

During the day when it's bright outside, I can barely make out the video so I typically just turn off the display and use it as a regular mirror.
