My LX470 is at TrollHole’s Cruisers in Simpsonville, SC all week to chase electrical gremlins and some other issues. They already verified my O2 sensors are good (yay!) and both catalytic converters are bad (not yay!). Looks like I need all four rear light housings because some yahoo who previously owned this went with cheap aftermarket ones that are causing fault codes for missing bulbs that are actually there and working. I’m also actively looking for a used rooftop tent to use on our trip from SC through Dallas, Clovis NM, Four Corners, Moab, Rapid City, and St Louis, and also for a good composting toilet solution.

Edited to add, need good seat covers too that allow the armrests to work properly.

Check out the Escape Gear seat covers from Equipt, they're pretty nice and the material is breathable and super durable. I know there are other options out there but these I have direct experience with. I've also had good results with the Specter Off Road seat covers, they fit very well over the factory upholstery, we used to have them in our (now sold) 2003 UZJ100 and loved them.

Full interior refresh complete. New leather, new carpet, headliner and plaid wagon nets on the rear of the front seats. Two weeks later. Carpet replacement is not a fun task. Glad to be done with this. Waiting on my Weather Tech mats to come in.

Wow, that looks amazing! Love the new nets, SO much nicer than the stock ones.... Is that Alcantara on the headliner?

Decided last minute to do suede on the headliner. I think it turned out really well. Something different. Local upholstery shop knocked it out for me after I removed the headliner.

Is that OEM carpet? It looks like it fits really well.

Ugh, just found out they can’t align my 470 because the steering rack bushings are shot and it’s pivoting in the mounts… when it rains, it pours.

Welcome to the highs…. And lows of loving a Land Cruiser…

I also have a steering issue and was able to secure a new steering rack from CarParts.com for around $250.00. Hope that adds a ray of sunshine to a somewhat cloudy day…

I just had to eat that poop sandwich. I was having UCA's and a Diff Drop installed and was informed that the
steering rack was leaking from every orifice possible. Factory reman from dealer and 6.5hrs of labor tacked
on to the tab....great to be on the other side of it though.

Thankfully, my rack isn’t leaking. Since this is my DD, and only vehicle for my wife and I at the moment (after selling the Passat TDI to my son for work & college), I have to get ir repaired fast. Ordered the bushings direct from SuperPro, since they give a generous military discount, and got next day AM shipping (which their discount paid half of!). Should be up and running Monday afternoon.

Did you paint those plaid seat back nets? I just ordered some but didn’t see this color.

Edit: this must be the grey

T-case refresh on a 06LX:
• Input shaft seal and bearing replacement.
• Output shaft seal and bearing replacement.
• Transmission output seal replacement.
IMG_3720.jpeg

Symptom: weeping gear oil (and you know gear oil, it’s thick and smelly) at the input flange (front). While at it I will be replacing wear items like the f&r bearings as well just to make sure there is no play/lateral movement of the rotating part.

On a side note, interesting to see who ever built this 18 years ago wrote the specs on the shaft itself.

Choice of parts are all OEM and is now inbound, fun project as usual. Happy wrenching everyone

The look you get when you have a good bumper, but you order another one and she laughs...I married the right woman

Ironman to ARB completed :). Winch and side markers still need wiring, but pretty much set.

Edit: I guess I should have added, the Ironman bumper was sold!

I have an ironman now but used to have an ARB on another rig, can you please share why you decided to switch?

My which died…motor is toast. It’s an old hand me down off a buddy’s Wrangler so no big loss. Current debate is repair vs replace. I’m leaning towards replace since at 8,500lbs capacity it’s a bit under sized for the 100 anyway. The amount of corrosion and crud that came out of it was amazing.
