How hard was it to re seal?
If you’re referring to the actuators, they weren’t too bad to re-seal when I did them. That was two years ago and they’re still going strong (knock on wood). I think I remember using a wood clamp to hold them together while the epoxy set.

Replaced the heater tees with metal versions referenced on the forum.

Doing research tonight to try and figure out the sluggish acceleration issue.

I've got those T's sitting in my creeper stool drawer waiting to go on...albeit with a slightly lesser set of constant torque hose clamps...

Hose Clamps

Alternator whine and failure 3 days later… vehicle is 22 years old but only 105,000 miles.

so… replaced with 130A rebuilt Denso and changed the 3 pin connector to 4 pin. Added the Sumitomo SUMI-PG2 plug in the 4th unused spot on the electrical connector… dielectric grease in connector.

And… new OEM radiator. Because the original top tank is turning gray/green.

Also, routing wiring for Morimoto Micro D2S headlight upgrade. Finally going to have decent headlights.

Pretty amazing what a new set of spark plugs will do. I’m pretty sure mine were original to the rig 25 years ago. It only has 72,000 miles on it and the plugs I pulled were Denso iridium plugs so it seems probable that the plugs were stock.

Coil packs look fine but the plugs definitely seemed ready for replacement. They were all a little looser than spec but nothing super loose. An hour later the truck runs great. Hesitations and misfires seem to be resolved.

Oh yeah mine were so crusty and after replacing it purrs like a mountain lion.

about a month ago had some rats partying under the hood of my LX470. They went straight for the knock sensors. Didn't even know I had a problem until I dropped my son off at daycare and had an unexpected check engine light come on on the way home.

Both knock sensors had been chewed on, and only one had the wires completely chewed through. I ended up replacing all of the clips and connectors and quite a bit of the harness. Figured I'd do the starter at the same time while I was in there.

At the end, I also installed a K&N intake tube to replace the resonance chambers on the factory unit. Mild difference noticed by the butt dyno. Just feels a little better paired with the Doug Thorley headers and catback exhaust.

sucks on the critters chewing through wiring, pretty sure I am dealing with this on a 94 sc400 with the 1UZ. Went in and replaced the knock sensors and thought I had problem figured out. Briefly looked at wiring on both sensors, looked good so slapped on all the intake parts. Car still throws knock sensor codes and studders/misfires.. I do remember seeing mouse droppings in v8 Valley, should have removed starter and inspected all the wiring........Do you have part number for k&n air filter tube you used?

I feel for ya. I traced wiring as far as I could behind the motor to avoid. Here's the part number for the intake I used from the K&N website.

Decided to strip out all the factory seam sealer between the roof skin and the supports to get rid of the rust that formed between the sealer and the skin, which caused the bond to fail and of course, a wonderful roof rattle.

Was on my knees in the back of the LX for 12 hours. Got the sealer out, rust sanded down, and some ospho for insurance. Just got a coat of red/brown and hoping to get this wrapped up in a day or 2.

Not an easy job due to the little room between the rails and the skin. Fortunately, I have a full shop with a lot of tooling so I could round up the proper tools to get into the tight spaces.

@cruiserpatch cabin air filter retrofit kit installed. Not too dang dirty, bird feather and some pine needles.
Great written instructions and YouTube vid. No cig-a-retts haha

Also pulled the cabin fan and cleaned the dust off (good howto vid from @TheLCProject )

As others have mentioned, why didn’t this come installed from the factory on some cruisers?!

The cabin air filters were “optional equipment” from the dealership in the Land Cruiser all the way to 2007. Unless it was selected by the original owner, these were by default, not included.

The LX470 came standard with cabin filters. I suppose that’s what the extra $5,000 got you 😂

Our 99 came with the setup, but no filters installed. Assume it came with filters from the factory and somewhere along the line someone pulled them out and never replaced them. So we bought the two filters and popped em in. Easy.

Bought 2 filters for my 2000 LX, but when I went to swap them found only room enough for 1. Am I missing something? I would assume they'd be in the same housing together but never went looking for pics or diagrams.

One slides in and then drops down. The other slides in and rests on top. Is that what you maybe are missing??

Maybe. Will have to look when I get home but I don't feel like it was tall enough to house them both vertically.
