Man that is just fantastic…wish I had the space/supplies/boldness to do that!! Yeah, I have gotten quotes ~$10k - hard for me to swallow when that is more than what I originally paid for the whole vehicle.
thanks… my only suggestion would be is if you know someone in the body shop biz that can refer you to a good painter, who likes to side hustle - that might be your cheapest bet.

But shops are flooded with so much work nowadays, most painters don’t even want to mess with side jobs.

I joined the club. Now I can finally leave the mall. (slide is coming)

I like to modify but I also like to keep every little thing functioning as it did originally. My one exception to that is TPMS. I’ve got zero patience for that crap. Huge thanks to @salsaredpearl for figuring out how to disable the light.

I must have overextended the glove box damper last time I replaced the cabin filters, was the perfect “while I’m in there” job.

First time in my three years of ownership the TPMS light has been out!

What’s your initial opinion of fit and finish? This seems like a really good budget friendly rack, although I wish it mounted a bit lower.
The finish is really great. The powder coat looks nice and I don't have any weld splatter on the rack.

The fit? Well, YMMV, but I found this install a gigantic pain in the ass. Yes, it installs correctly, but the instructions are severely lacking. A couple pictures, all low quality, so I didn't know which way some of the brackets faced. I had a general idea but it turned out wrong, so I get to uninstall and fix two of six next weekend.

Overall I'm very happy with it. I wanted a light weight rack(44lb) and that's what I got. I think it looks nice and the price is right. On sale it was about $760.

Busy couple of weeks getting ready for CO later this week.
Installed ValleyTech rear bumper. Very stout and Garret is awesome to work with. Wiring everything up was actually the hard part.
Replaced OME 2865 coils with OME 2863s. This was a bigger PITA than I thought it would be. I cannot get my lower shock mounts to budge, so had to unscrew them from the top...
Replaced right rear axle seal and Oring, so I could replace the parking break shoes.
As long as I had to break into the brake lines for the axle seal job, I replaces all the rubber brake lines with Toyota. The 23 year old 300k mile lines actually were still pretty flexible, but I didn't want to find out the hard way on a mountain pass...
Changed oil and filter, greased everything, and rotated the tires.

How does the ride feel with the 2863s?

Honestly just a touch firmer, and I may not have even noticed if I didn’t know better. Clearly I added weight with the bumper, and it’s sitting just over an inch higher, but it’s only been a day. It is definitely stiffer and doesn’t settle as much when I sit on the tailgate, so I’m hoping for better manners offroad.

did you have to adjust the TBs?

I didn’t. I’m waiting for it to settle, and I’ll see what it’s like loaded with camping gear before I do anything. With the 2865s, I sat dead level with camping gear, so I knew adding the rear bumper would over do it. One of my plans is to add a gas tank where the spare was, and I’m hoping these springs will be enough for that, but we’ll see.

Over the weekend, the truck started making this groaning sound and noticed that my voltage readings would fluctuate on throttle and drop on idle. So ordered a new Denso alternator and helped get it installed today. Did it by dropping it out from the bottom and got it back in the same way. It was a bit fiddley but we managed to get the new one in its new rest place. Put everything back together and fired it up to silence, just the sweet sweet sound of the V8. Voltage holding steady and we're good to go. I tell you having access to a lift made life SOOO much easier especially when trying to get the alternator out and back in. Also having my wife as the shop operations manager and access to ordering parts at their cost is extremely nice. $160 -$80 core charge so the new one only cost us $80 can't beat that!

Alternator appears to be the original one from 2004, and at 182k miles it's served a good life.

How is it running?
Running fine, smooth idle & average 14 miles a gallon, can’t complain there. If I could get time to work on front end I’d prob describe as “like new”
