Cleans up real good. Next level whenever you’re ready is metal polish + scotch brite pad.
Great suggestion! I think I’ll try it. The body of that hub sub assembly is still a deep patina 😄 The wire wheel didn’t change it much.

Your brake fluid looks a bit dark. Might want to think about replacing that before you need an expensive master cylinder.
Yeah I thought the same thing, but it was flushed and filled just 18k miles ago. It’s not that expensive, maybe I should go ahead and do it again.

And I was 110% sure someone on here would notice that 😎

Lol yea, wasn't trying to be a nag or anything, I just noticed it since I did my last week and couldn't believe how dark mine was.

My front brake pads are wearing unevenly. I could’ve bought eight all new pistons and the refresh kit for about $280. But that’s like polishing a turd since I would still be stuck with old, rusty calipers. I opted to buy brand new TOYOTA calipers for $275/ea. which in the end, is less work vs. the tear down and rebuild. I also bought a new section of brake line (see pic) and the corresponding new hardware since, you know, age and rust.

This thing is like a tomahawk steak -huge, thick, heavy, overkill.

The factory ones:

Do you have a better side-profile shot of it? I have visited their site off and on for a couple months but cant pull the trigger on 26 dollar spray paint. But i'm guessing its worth it.
Worth it to me. all the scuff marks and door dings on that trim bugged me. At least its all one even color now. Life is short, do the things, buy the paint, get a dog.

Decided it was time to install some new headlights. This is the actual product I installed: Amazon product ASIN B07V5XCJT8
As you can see in this pic, which is my OEM lights, the plastic housing is severely scratched particularly the left low beam light.

Here's after install with the lights off. Looks pretty good to me and prefer the dark housing. Unfortunately, broke one of the plastic trim pieces as the plastic piece holding it in wouldn't come out easily. Used some super glue on it, but otherwise not really bothered by it.

A quick pic with the halo daytime running lights on as well as the low beams. The low beam bulbs look pretty cheap to me, so I already have some new ones ordered and should arrive tomorrow as well as new high beams.

Overall, pretty happy with them and pretty easy to install (except for the plastic trim piece).

Update: the bulbs it comes with work, but not great. I HIGHLY recommend installing new bulbs before installing the housing as you’ll have a lot more space to work. Also, the low beam bulb is a H7, not a 9005. Also, I thought the halo lights would work as DRLs, but they don’t. They only turn on when the headlights are on.

I raised the spare. I got about an inch more clearance. Not dramatic, but everything helps. After/before order.

Relocated rear breather on the filler neck behind the splash shield. Also the front up the firewall.

Finally, replaced the power steering return hose. That was less fun than I expected.
