Found an issue recently in the LX. Had water getting into the cabin, anytime it rained was finding that my driver's side carpet would be soaked. Took some time today to figure out what it was. Wasn't planning on it but ended up taking all the seats out and the front half of the carpeting. The culprit appears to be this gasket from the wiring harness that came loose. The water was getting in and pooling in the door sills. Sanded some of the rust before dark plan on cleaning the rest and sealing the gasket and some Rustoleum on the sills to keep from the rust developing to rot.

At the risk of stating the obvious, also check sunroof drains—if they’re clogged water can run down a pillars and might pool there. I briefly owned a 200 that had had its main wiring harness junctions destroyed by water running down the a pillars...thank goodness dealer was a standup guy and took it back.

Thank You! I suspected the same and sprayed it down with the hose after pulling everything out to see if I could find where water was getting in. I checked what I believe to be the drain line which was this tubing here but it seems to be in really good condition might tape the seams just to be certain

That's not the sunroof drain. I believe that's for the rear window squirter. The sunroof drains run down the A pillar (front) and D pillar (rear). At least that's how it is on an 80, and I'm pretty sure the 100 is similar.

I doubt that loose grommet you found is the cause of your water intrusion. Could be a leaky windshield too.

+2 on what @bryson said. To check sunroof drains, open the sunroof, pour a quart or two of water into the pan at the front, and see what happens--if it just sits there, you've got clogged drains, which will allow water to eventually overflow that pan and get into the headliner and make its way down the A pillars.

I replaced the passenger front seatbelt with one from a part out. No more blinking SRS light, or worrying my sweetie could get hurt if we get hit.

Installed WKOR sliders.

Are those 15° angled or straight out? Love the full diamond top plate! Definitely acts as more of a step and less room for injury. Any need for grip tape on that top surface?

👍

15° angled. I didn't lose any ground clearance with the angled sliders other than the U-bolts. The full diamond plate being at a 15° angle will direct water off to the side instead of it sitting there. I'm so tall that I don't need to use them as steps. Since the rear extends out I think I can use that part for climbing. No thoughts about grip tape at this point.

Welded on a 2” swingout hitch for my new 1up rack. Also installed some Baja Designs lights. Thanks for the help @rb4638

Felt slight shudder(torque converter) past few weeks in OD, figured I need to do a drain and fill on the ATF fluid as it's been a couple of years. Seems I misthreaded the plug last time, and it was stripped coming out. Pulled the pan, because it's been 353k since install, and I'm curious. Magnets look good, just normal sludge. Strainer the same. Sure enough, the pan is stripped, and I'm replacing. Ordered new strainer too, because it's there and I'm looking to go for another 353k. ;) Pic one shows a clean magnet, and those waiting to be cleaned. Bottom is strainer, after I swiped a microfiber across to gauge sludge build up.

More neglected bits. Old Air filter was a Unifilter suppsoed to be highly regarded and servicable, but screw it still looked ancient so changed it.
New K&N performance filter , new ryco fuel filter (2014 on the old one). Greased the upper seal with the K&N filter grease, even tho it looked like it sealed well.
Engine has an very minor oil leak so spent the morning cleaning the metal bit I took off to access the lower radiator hoses - repainted it after degreasing and wiping over. Then cleaned various parts underneath the car. Diff/underneath engine/transmission. Little bit grubby but not too bad really.

Spewing the air intake hose is brittle cracked mid-section 75% nearly a full break, another $127 AUD. Been patched up before already above the engine, goooodness me more $. Changing all this stuff because we are traveling down south 1500 odd kms . Cabin filter to come next - found custom made ones for fzj105R ! Will post this week

Have had a minor coolant leak for months and just replaced with distilled water over the summer. Cold weather means its time to pay the piper.

The other issue I was having is the engine was running about 30 degrees cool, even with a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. The thermostat was only two years old, so I was very nervous about this being a head issue instead.

New thermostat and seal, drain fluid and replaced with new 50/50 I mixed, check and reseat upper rad hose (two years old) and replace lower rad hose (unknown age). There's oil on the bottom of the motor - further investigation shows oil directly underneath my valve covers, so I'm going to dig up my little torque wrench and retorque the bolts.

The engine heats up very quickly now.

Changed the oil and filter. It was long overdue, but seeing as I haven't driven much in the last 10 months I wasn't too worried. New Toyota filter and Mobil 1. Old oil looked pretty good.

Decided to do the @2001LC drain and fill of my transmission, because I couldn't find any concrete record of it being done. 1 hour job and maybe change diff fluid while I'm under the truck, as I planned, turned into and 8 hour ordeal.

The tranny drain plug gave me the dreaded resistance on the way out. The drain plug was indeed all mangled and cross threaded. Since it was Sunday, no dealer was open to try to find a new plug from Toyota/Lexus, so I went to Napa to find suitable replacements. Spent an hour there trying to find something, to the bemusement of the staff. The M10 plug I found went in and just spun in place, even with the freshly chased threads. Ending up having to tap it to a larger M12 and used a plug and gasket similar to the oil drain, which snugged up nice at 20Nm. Lots of grease, frequent cleaning, and more grease on the tools, to slowly get the new threads cut. I thought I had the correct replacement plug before I started, but the one I ordered was way too big.

It was 60° out yesterday, today it was 39° and raining all day, with 3-12 inches of wet snow Wednesday... so I wanted to get it buttoned up before the weather hit. A new pan would have been my preference, but time/weather constraints and the facts that it was in the middle of my driveway made me fix it in situ.

The worst part is that the fluid looked super clean as it came out and looked nice and red on a white towel. Oh well. Last guy who changed the fluid didn't explicitly mark it in the maintenance history anywhere and most likely over torqued and/or cross threaded it. The lesson it to always have extra parts on hand before you start a project.

Thanks for the advice and tips for others that had similar issues.

Get a mechanic to take a look at it , think its about $100
