Working on the lift for my LX470. Can’t say the rear has been fun. Finally resorted to the reciprocating wrench. I put the taller spring on the drivers side since OTTRAM video said to but this one was labeled NS from Ironman4x4. We will see.

Did someone say desert day?

What about desert sunset?

Desert nights really are best.

Me and my two sons spent two days near Barstow, California playing in the desert and visiting Calico ghost town (nowhere near as good as Bodie ghost town). All images taken with my DJI Mavic Air 2 (un touched). Night time off-road adventures really are my favorite.

Did the first oil change with M1 EP 5w30 w/ oem filter.
Next time i will take off the ASFIR front skid, you can access the filter without dropping the Skid, but get ready for the mess.
Greased every zerk.
Hit the rusted exhaust resonator with rustoelum rust converter, very sastisfy to not see that rust when im walking up to the truck. Also hit the body mounts, didnt want to mess with the wire brush on the accumulator, but that rust is ugly

new weather stripping for all 4 doors, now wind noise at hwy speed is gone, super stoked!
took out the speakers i had put in for replacements (didn't pay attention to their Ohms) and replaced them with 2 ohm speakers, sounds way better. realized i have a bad tweeter on the driver's side so have to either get an oem replacement or just figure out how to rig component speakers...just a bit leery of cutting the oem wiring. found another post from @highonpottery that might help with which wires to use.
up next, fixing the leak in the passenger footwell from the ac. got the parts and gasket to convert to being able to insert cabin filters, should be fun.
man i love this truck, it is a blast tinkering on it!

After a quick search on ‘ih8Mud; successfully cured his new howling/shriek sound by replacing the 309,480 mile fan clutch.
Had forgotten about his ROAR at startup! Just like old times.
Old clutch grinds pretty badly...
And cleaned him up a bit after his summer in Winter Park, CO.

So I made a thing today....

For some time now, I've been concerned about the theft of my rig after hearing that even with the transponder key anti-theft system (that sounds impenetrable enough), Land Cruisers are still being stolen (even locally) by experienced thieves holding the right tools (replacing the computer, etc). Knowing that, I wanted to make it as difficult as possible to run and drive (here at home, or out on the street) even if that system was bypassed. Leaving the thief with either towing or pushing it down the street as the only way to move it.

I know it won't run without the fuel pump fuse intact and in place, so I made a harness the replaces it with a remote fuse wired to an on-off switch. Ultimately, it's just a deterrent for someone who actually knows how to diagnose, but who's going to do that? It certainly increases the complexity of stealing this particular vehicle- right? If somebody who really knows what they're doing goes looking, this is obvious. But the average dirtbag won't even know to look. If it doesn't start, that will likely be the end of it. Any thoughts on this?

Id been looking here and there for a lx 470 or a LC and was planning on waiting till next year but couldn't pass up a 06 lx470 with 133K so a week and half ago, i bought it from a nice guy out of Wilmington. He only had a couple months and bought it from a guy who worked for the PGA tour, never took it off road and took it the dealer for everything. Im an ex 7 year toyota trained technician so ill be doing all the work myself. I already changed the filters, did a LOF and a 4x4 service. With 3 dogs and my gf parents living in TN, it'll be a perfect vehicle for us.

+ fan clutch
+ fan bracket
+ serpentine tensioner pulley
+ idler pulley
+ serpentine belt

$$$ pit collage right here. Almost finished doing my 90k miles service just waiting for the OEM bolts (one for the side of the fan bracket stripped by previous tech and one for the alternator which I accidentally stripped)
