50% tint on windshield? I would be aston... errr.... pleasantly surprised if California allows that....

Does CA allow anything? Ha ha, the shop will take it off for free and re-install for half price, so could go 80% or 90% at that time

IIRC, there must be more than 70% VLT through the windshield, including everything. But I could be wrong. Hopefully, a tint shop will know better.

Just reporting my findings after doing a CV axle re-boot. Thought it was odd and definitely out of place. Both sides of the claw washer had deep grooves on driver and passenger side.

Tell-tale sign of loose bearings!
Yeah, i need to replace them... they may be the culprit of the loud whirring noise. Just so tired of taking the damn bearings apart... going on the 4th time in the past 2 months now lmao.

I have had really rough time with getting them right too. But I think I have finally gotten them torqued just right.

Getting them torqued to proper spec hasn't been difficult it's been the fact that I rebooted my CV's, then had to reboot them again after a torn boot, then a full brake job and parts replacement due to the claw washer wear lol.

Now i'll have to go back in there to replace the bearings and i'll definitely want to replace a few other inexpensive parts while i'm in there.

You know these trucks are old and need maintenance like any other older high mileage car. A lot of components on these trucks are overbuilt and don't fail easily, allowing the previous owners to just ignore the regular maintenance.

Then one of us "enthusiasts" get their hands on these ignored, under-maintained trucks and start hanging jewelry on it before taking care of the overdue maintenance. Or worse yet, buy a rusty example (look at me!) and sink ungodly amounts in rust repairs. After a while the high of having a new toy and collective koolaid drinking induced mutual back patting wears off and we are found holding a very expensive old truck!

This is not an attack on you or anyone in particular, it is just a little self-reflection.

In other news, I spent over a $1000 getting an Ironman awning, awning room, an ICECO fridge and a Jackery Explorer. I will be hanging them all on my truck once I get my truck back from the local body shop, where it is undergoing its 3rd rust surgery! Onwards!!

I'm letting a family friend drive my rig for a week or two. He's in the market for an LX but has never owned a Japanese vehicle. He needs to know what it is like before dropping real cash on something for himself.

Hey how did you mount the Bussman fuse box? And how long did the Prospeed take to get installed? Mine just showed up today!

Holy moly! I didn’t know that’s where the starter is! So...it’s under the intake manifold?
Yep. It's really not that bad to replace, but make sure you get all of the parts together ahead of time as far as gaskets etc. It's a good opportunity to clean up that whole area and replace degrading rubber bits, i.e. injector insulators/o-rings, ignition coil boots, spark plugs etc. You don't have to pull the intake manifold for that stuff but it's way easier while it's out.

We finally got our 2006 LC100! She has 188k on her. I'm nowhere y'alls mechanical level so first thing was off to the dealer for the stuff I've read about on here. Got timing belt/water pump, all fluids replaced and diffs/tc serviced, greased the drive shafts, new spark plugs, etc etc. Got lucky, the AHC only needed the struts replaced; other than that 11 gradations and good pressures, I was convinced i was gonna need new globes. Got some 275/65/18 Geolandars AT GO15s. Fuel pump was replaced. Stuck some JBL club speakers in it today, the old speakers were toasted. Thing rides really nice and smooth, pretty darned impressed for a truck with that age and mileage. Bit of a whistle around 65+, stock racks, not sure what that's from, but I ordered up some new front and rear door weatherstrips as the ones on there were pretty compressed and dry. Anyone have any other suggestions about the whistling at that speed? seems to be in the front most notable near the a pillars where the sail panels are. Anyway, I'm pretty stoked!
