Not a criticism, I'm no engineer: Does that heavy cooler/ fridge really just mount with those two bolts in the front? I can see how gravity would keep it in place under normal circumstances, but in an accident or rollover, wouldnt there be quite a bit of shear/ leverage on those bolts?

Looks like a great camping setup, though - that generator/ battery thing is neat. I bought a power brick from them yeeeeears ago for my phone and it's still kicking around.

Was it an acute failure from an impact, or did it just quit working?

I am unfortunately rarely offroad and with COVID haven't been driving much with WFH.. I cannot think of anything that would have damaged the shock via impact. When I inspected more closely it looked like there was an oil leak at some point. The worst part is this is the second time in about 18 months..

That stinks. Did Ironman replace the first one under warranty? If so I'd be curious if they did any failure analysis on it. I have the same shocks, so I'm not excited to see a premature failure like that.

Filed under "should have done this a long time ago". The blower fan was GROSS, just caked in garbage. So I shook out the leaves, then used the $10 HF special "engine cleaner" with some hot water and dishsoap.

5 minute job, tops. The tool makes it so easy, and it's almost spotless now. T20 to get the screws out.

No has sum in the front also just on picture they are not on I wasnt finish just wanted to give u the idea of what i did. has total of 4 bolts. I like offroading so 2 bolts would not work at all. Also later getting the cage for the back just in case of roll over

I ordered new floor mats off eBay(from a random Toyota dealer), I hate the way the weathertech ones roll up at the edges. Especially in the second row.
They are labeled like Toyota oem parts, but the quality doesn’t feel it to me.
However, after a good bath, and the new floor mats, what a difference. I’d pass a lie detector if you asked me if she drives better now.

I’m having a hard time deciding if it’s a good thing or a bad thing to be excited for floor mats.

I’d be more excited about the outcome of those paver stones.
That patternstyle looks awesome dude. You have the manufacturer/style info you can pm me

Nice, I'm digging your work as I'm researching battery/solar pack for my VL60. Considering Nature's Generator vs Jackery. Also thinking of DIY the tray as I want to pull it out bit further and mount to the existing 3rd row seat bolts.

Btw, +1 vote for better mounts for the fridge and also jackery. Those can easily break at least a side glass on off-road.

Yeah the weathertech ones that have the high edges suck. They make a flat rubber one that's like OEM quality, those are awesome. When I bought my LX it came with the weathertech high edge ones, and I threw them away because they were so flimsy and kept slipping.

I wish I had gotten those, the high edge ones just don't fit very well and the 2nd row constantly rolls up and looks cheap.

Weekend Trip to the Outerbanks/Cape Hatteras for the 1yo's birthday. Absolute blast, continuing to hone in the set-up but its definitely getting there. Able to set-up the awning, pull out the drawers and be cooking in under 5-10 minutes.

Camped in the Frisco NPS campground which is basically in the dunes, nice sandy campsite overlooking the ocean. Second night had 35mph wind gusts and rain, while the noise and movement was horrendous the cheapy coleman and awning did fine. I did have to re-stake everything and bury some sand on top of the stakes. Note to others, just pay the twenty bucks or whatever and get some nice beefy stakes or sand stakes and then you can sleep easy knowing its not going anywhere. 2nd day we drove out on the beach found a nice spot with a little tidal pool for the kids to play in, set up shop, and stayed all day into the night and had a fire on the beach and watched the moonlight on the waves.

Though we lives in the mountains, my wife is definitely a beach person so this trip and the last beach trip have definitely helped her buy in to the camping trips and the "necessity" of the gear. Replaced the bank 2 post-cat o2 sensor before we left and when reading the obdii I thought o man, the drivers side one doesnt look much better and sure enough once at the beach the check light came on for the other sensor, so ordered that and figured I get one, more so theyll all be >1yr old sensors.
I have been lusting after the Overland Pros Wraptor for a while. How do you like it? Do you have the 2500?

Yes, I have the 2500, definitely recommend it over the 2000. Its been great, imo its the most affordable high quality awning on the market. So the set-up time isnt instant and can be clumsy your first time dealing with the poles, its ideal with two people. My wife and I can set it up in two-three minutes flat now. The coverage is phenomenal for sun or rain. I got two of the wall pieces, I stuff them inside the awning bag, definitely recommend them for wind or for when its raining sideways. I will say you definitely need to stake it down if its windy because it will catch wind like a sail.

My Brother in law picked up what appears to be a unicorn. Needs a little baselining but other than that it looks new inside. Not "kept in great shape" new but like "never been driven" new. I'm supremely jealous. He's got about $2k to throw at it and other than a timing belt, etc. service, and fixing the flaking chrome wheels, what should he do? This is a grocery getting, kid toting mall cruiser for my sister. Though she is a bourbon chugging, ass-kicking ex-cop, she really just wants a forever-cruiser. Let the flaming begin...

The most egregious front bumper and a search light near the drivers side mirror. Done. Look the part of an ex-cop

Excellent! After TB job, replace the heater Ts, all fluids everywhere and then nothing unless it is needed. Too many of us change or upgrade parts for no reason at all and then grouch about it being expensive.

Solid advice. Think drain and fill on the running gear will work or should he flush?

100% agree with ClassyJalopy.

Timing Belt (and check some of the pulleys and replace if needed)
Heater T's
Coolant drain, flush with distilled water, fill with new coolant
Oil change
trans drain and fill (4qts) at each oil change for a bit
AHC fluid (if applicable)
F, C, R diff drain and fill

Then spend the money you saved not doing unnecesary stuff for upgrading the interior with a Carplay unit with reverse camera, maybe a window tint, floor mats, and whatever creature comforts she wants.

Where is the best place for heater T's? Dealer or parts store? Is there more than one to replace? Got a link to a thread?

I appreciate any info.
