What did you do with your Tundra or Sequoia this weekend?

Those 5.29’s might be the ticket, but it is a lot of work to find out. I actually have either a front or rear 5.29 gear set sitting in the shop, I can’t remember for sure. I ordered a full set and one arrived damaged so I returned it and never reordered. I think my biggest complaint is the transmission is constantly shifting at the slightest variation in road grade. Trying to use cruise control is super aggravating as it will drop to a real low gear on hills and run the rpms super high when it’s not even necessary. That and the sway when a semi truck is passing me (improved from what it was). 7.5 mpg @ 65mph is brutal too, but probably won’t get much better if I stick with gas. A Ram 2500 with the 8-speed sounds nice, but most of trucks I am finding in my budget have the 6-speed.

Cruise control towing is out of the question until you get into the new diesel world.

Which comes with its own problems..

I’m going to bet a Ram 2500 gas towing will be 10mpg. More gears for better options.

Do you love the tundra otherwise?

I towed a larger camper on stock gears and 37s with no issues. Just use tow haul and leave it in sport mode in 4th gear. Air bags help a lot too. But now that Im regeared to 5.29s I leave it in tow haul, and it moves. What a difference it made. I too thought about a 3/4 truck, but nothing is out in my budget thats reliable. With the regear Im going to keep it til the wheels fall off. Or if Toyota puts another V8 in the Tundra!!!
