The locker retrofit is done! I may have torn up some grass in the yard when I tested it out.

Elocker harness connection. My homebrew harness is the small clean loom. It runs up above the gas tank.

Then through this plate under the rear seat.

No pictures, but I ran the harness along the body harness on the driver side and into the drivers side kickpanel. The ECU was mounted behind one of the other ECUs above the drivers footwell.

Here's my new "secret button". I relocated the CDL switch as well.

And while I was at I installed a new blend door servo. Mine had stripped the nylon gear.

Nice Jamie, did u put in the brain for the difflock?
I did on mine so it would not interfer with the abs system.
I really like mine as I can get about anywhere in the cove.

The 4Runner is all ready for the New Years Ride now.

They are hooked to two rocker switches. One for the front brakes and one for the rear.

I've not kept up with those things.....many years ago I drove a GM 1ton that had a line lock but it had a hydraulic "manual lever" and then you had to energize the brakes by pumping the pedal three times as I recall, then brakes were locked (was on a wrecker). Anyway that most likely is an antique by todays stuff.

I keep looking around for improvements to the FJ60 rear brakes or what is an improvement is in my mind, may have found one option.
Drotor Brake Upgrade Kit

Sort of lame since my biggest effort was spending the money ...

I bought a set of 5 Toyota steel wheels from Onur a couple of months back and this week I purchased tires for them. With the holiday sales going on, I pulled the trigger on a set of BFG 255/85R16 Mud Terrain KM2s. The 255/85R16 size specs out to be nominally 33x10 which falls into the tall skinny rut that I prefer.

The wheels seem to be good and stout because they are heavy (old man Toyota went with thicker steel rather than thin). Plus, these BFG MT KM2s seem to be a fair bit heavier than the 33x10.5 BFG ATs that I replaced, so I am optimistic that they are even better.

Here are a couple of post empty wallet shots

Looks nice Larry, you should come try them out on my yet to be built back yard hillclimb trail challenge

On New Years eve, I started rebuilding the knuckles on the BJ70 and I finished today ... or at least I stopped. I still have to bleed the brakes but no one else was at home to pump the pedal. I hope to do it tomorrow night when I get home from work.
These pictures will be down right boring compared to the action over New Years at the Cove.

I wonder what was in the big led light bar box under the runner?

That would be yet another light bar. Maybe I'll put it across the windshield. Then I'll "FOR SHOW" fit in with the mall crawling crowd. Thinking bout putting 12 little ones on the frame.

What cha going to say now @TeddyBoy...
 If went to Moab I would light that whole freakin place up. Put an end to the night wheelin :steer: when I turned on my L-E-D's ! You could wheel in day light 24/7 , people think they turned into Area 51.:vulcan:

Get y'all some of that! :rimshot:

if it is curved, then I bet it would fit across the top of the windshield on the Solstice :steer:

Me, Steve and the Aussie on Pritchett Canyon trail at gawd knows what time... We did what we could with our pitiful single light bar.

no pictures and no new light bars...but..

installed new yota front caliper/new pad, new aftermarket brake boster, asin master cylinder
installed new drums on the rear, new shoes, brake hardware, adjuster and parking brake "cam arm" not sure its formal name.

Installed new distributor but found I still have a camshaft offset code, which now means I've got to go explore for wiring issues somewhere (presumably a cut wire). On 5.7 vortec the cam sensor is in the bottom of the distributor housing. So either scan tool was having issues or its a cut wire or plug, because once installed I never could get the cam offset reading to change no matter how I turned the distributor. at or around 1K rpm cam offset is sppose to read 0 degrees. Its somewhat like setting the timing but not the same...essentially you get rpm over 1Krpmm and loosen distributor and adjust the distributor while watching scan tool to get at or close to zero, then lock the distributor down. In my case with new parts it never changed from -46.

Also swapped the one wire CS144 ALT over to normal GM OEM type CS144 ALT, have to figure out the last bit of wiring to get the alt to
energize and charge. CS-144 is a bolt in on the 5.7, but modifying the wiring harness and adding wiring if needed is the fun part.

Hopefully the distributor issue can be solved in a few weeks and the alternator too.

in the brake work we found one of my springs missling from the parking brake cable adjuster thing on the rear of the drum housing. Not sure of the name...but you can see the housing on each side of teh stock 60 setup where there are two springs exposed on each side. Dont' know why the design lis like this (exposed springs) but it is and apparently one of my springs either broke or got damaged in some way..

One hightlight is.... I no longer need any type of wheel spacer at all. with the swap back to stock type front calipers my front wheels sit down on the hub without issue and I'm good without having to run anytype of wheel spacer.

On deck (fix alt, fix distributor cam sensor issue, will have to adjust teh parking brake some more and may have to also adjust the throw on the brake booster where it attaches to the brake pedal. As I recall the brake booster I bought is an aftermarket version for a 4runner (swap document on mud)

I pulled Scrappy out of the barn today. First time it has seen the daylight in over 2 years.

I'm trying to make room so I can start finishing out the inside, making room for me to really get down to business on all these projects I have stacked up.

Just so you know, I'm keeping notes on every 3rd gen spare cab I see. :flipoff2: Poor Scrappy, it needs a life outside of that barn. :steer::steer::steer:
