I got this rebuilt 2f motor out of the 1981 60, and on the stand... I am turning this into a 2fe with the parts I got from a junkyard (rebuilding it too) and this head is going to the 87 60.... in the right of the picture.

Steve, I am rebuilding the block I got from you and putting it in another 55 I have... So I should end up with a 72 55 with a 2f and a 78 with a 2fe.

after my hockey game last night i'm cruising home thru greenville.

I heard something snap in the floor board and i lost my throttle controll.

Pulled over and found my pin holding my lokkar throttle cable to my pedal arm broke.

Ok no big deal i put a zip tie on her to hold them together then headed home.

Once i hit the road and got up to shift into second gear my throttle was sticking. Had to bump the engine on/off to get her in a parking lot.

My lokkar cable inner sleeve had split right where it goes into my fire wall.

Drove home using the hand throttle put in sometime around 1967. Needless to say it was sticking a bit for the first 5 miles or so. Was also nice driving light to light shifting with a sticky hand throttle.

got home, cut out the bad section of throttle cable, put her back together. Was cold last night at 11:30.

i bought lokkar becuase of it's reputation of being a quality product. The inner sleeve is made of plastic. Looks like she just split. I'm hoping it was just a one time deal. I've only had the cable assy since july.

Wow I feel like I got a new cruiser tonight....put my new set of shocks on and what a difference....there is absolutely no shimmy in my steering wheel any more...the bumps don't rattle the cruiser anymore....great to have new tires and new shocks

delsol is that ur cruiser on the list of craigs for sale?

This week

I didn't turn a wrench or even drive it (except to the dump boring) but I did order the new H-55 five speed tranny. I am hoping that will give me just a bit more grunt in high range low gear, and I know with the overdrive 70 + is going to be a different world. :)

Hey does the dent still need a tranny?

Yeah that is his 40. He needs something more family friendly. He claims he wants a montero. Says that they have factory lockers on them.

lubed the suspension components and the DS on my truck. Flushed the power steering/hydroboost system on Bertha again and added some Lucas Stop Leak. We have a leak between the MC and the booster. Hoping we don't have to rebuild the "new" hydroboost.

the lokkar cable failed...again. This time in morning rush hour traffic.

Got it to the shop. Took a heavy duty cable from a commercial tiller and matched it to the anchor ends of the lokkar cable.

about 2x the size, a much beefier/better insulated cable sleeve. I think i'll snap a motor mount before breaking this throttle cable set up.

Put an ironman lift on the 60 with a little help from yournamehere (blair), and ACC. It is finally starting to come along... I just need to get a bumper and the engine problems sorted out... Oh, and I need an axle job, so next time we have a axle rebuild party I guess i'll be in...

Well Jay go ahead and order you a kit and we'll get a party goin...

Mine won't be out of the beast for at least two or more weeks, PM me if interested send me your number.

What are your plans for treating/repairing the internal rust?

Took it all down to bare metal. Treated it with ospho. Fixed the holes with bondo glass and then painted the truck with bedliner from the drip rail to the curve just below the window. Pics tomorrow. Pulled the inside trim panels loose and sprayed the inside of the body panels with ospho. Hopefully with removing all the rust I could and treating inside and out it will slow it down for a while.

Still got some issues with the front fenders and the passenger side door needs the whole bottom corner re built. Sux but for what we got the truck for I really can't complain about fixing rust.

Oh yeah, have to rebuild the front edge of the Hood to. At least I have plenty of projects. Still got stuff to do on the 40 also!
