Finally got around to shaping four badges for the rear hatch. It will only say LAND CRUISER in a wide font. I believe grizzlygibbs, stylo07 and I think one other member requested one. Tomorrow night I laser!
Stopped off MAF to pick up front 30mm coil spring spacers. MAF is closing down their Simi Valley warehouse and moving to Vegas. BTB products acquired them. Who knew?!
Also picked up my new mounts for the Anderson power plugs. Need to play around a little more before heading out to Red Rock on Sunday.
Replaced the alternator this week. I was driving and got numerous lights on the dash. I tried to replace just the brushes while on, but I couldn't find one of the screws to remove it, so I ended up swapping in a rebuilt one I had. Below is my old one which shows how short the brushes were and the dash when it lit up. Now I can go get a Christmas tree for the family
I tried to replace my driver's side window mechanism, but Rock Auto screwed me. The unit arrived, looked good and was dimensionally correct, but the plug doesn't match, there is no window guide on the lift arm and the clock spring is installed the wrong way.
Replaced my passenger side motor last week and ran into the same issue. I swapped the plugs and it worked fine. Had to cut the plug off of the new motor.
Well since I crushed the muffler it was time for a new one. Needed a gasket between the cats also because it was tweaked from when I smashed the muffler.
Really wish I would have seen that before! I was looking at it with the exhaust guys that did the truck and I was asking if he thought there was a enough room to do just that! It sure didnt look like much room to me and he didnt think so either. I guess he probably just didnt want to deal with it. Well next time I beer can it thats definitely what I'm doing! Looks good!
Went back to try to install my rocky road outfitters sliders. Took a good bit of grinding and drilling but the drivers side is up. The pinch Sean doesn't line up with the pipe that is supposed to attach to it. Br going to worry about that anyway. Passenger side is also on but the rear bracket was welded to high. The sliders make contact with the rocker panel. The front side hangs down where it's supposed to. I guess there will be some more cutting and some re-welding to do soon. But for now it will sit where it is.

Got the 80 all cleaned up yesterday, had an inch of dust on it from the fabricator's shop. Pretty sure I'm going to need to re-gear now. It wasn't too bad before with just 35" tires but the extra weight of the sliders, roof rack, and rear bumper with the spare mounted has really taken some power. I'm thinking 4.88 should be the ticket
WRX ditch removal on Mt Ashland. Had to hook em from the rear burying the truck in a weird position. Chains were the deciding factor. Funny thing is I was coming from picking up a winch off of CL! Lol
New seat covers! Did this a couple of weeks ago but finally getting around to sharing... The old upholstery was in bad shape so I used em to make a pattern and sewed a new pair. Not too bad for a first attempt.
Haha like @IanB said, start with a 1HDT, add a hiflow pump, good intercooler, upgraded intake (snorkel & airbox are 4" right through to turbo), enlarged plenum, heavy duty clutch to cope with the increased load, then all that needs to be changed is my dump pipe to suit the new (actually factory) turbo position since the garrett is on an adaptor plate and I've kept the factory exhaust manifold. Pictures attached of old setup, engine bay & new dump pipe componentry
Local guy here in east Tennessee. I sent him several pics of what I was looking for in a bumper and that was the final result. PM me if you want his contact information
