Generation Z as they call it, has no experience without the internet unless they have no access, which is not common. They learn faster if motivated, but know nothing of the Dewey Decimal System, b/c it is all but extinct. That said, the web has made info easier to get, and fact check. I look forward to being able to contribute my experience to this forum.

Back to 80's. Had her about a month now, only had time to have my shop do the master brake cylinder and fix a brake line. Radiator came in, hose kit and rad cap from Wits End, intake and exhaust manifold gasket kits came in from felpro, thermostat for toyotapartsblahblah, and belts o-rings, and then ordered the remflex intake and exhaust manifold gaskets b/c I heard they are more forgiving somewhere on this site. Will compare to the felpro when it comes in. Also does not hurt to have a back up if I botch something up. I'll have to wait for spring to do any real wrenching on her myself and cant wait. Would not have the confidence to even buy a 91' 80 w/o this site. A big thanks to everyone here. Here is to a healthy, happy and prosperous new year!

BTW - They new rig is starting to ring up its tab, and I have 4 vehicles now, so time to thin the fleet. I've got an 86' CJ7 which I hate to give up, but must go to make way for the cruiser. The Jeep is tight, would rather offer it up to people here than straight to craigslist, however, being new, I don't know if that is cool to do here (in the for sale section). Any opinions?View media item 64100

Doesn’t really look like a land cruiser :hmm:

That's a nice looking CJ7!

Somebody posted wanting to know what temps people were seeing from their heater.

Outside temp: -11F
Vent temp: 185F (it actually got to 190.1 but I’d put my phone away already.
Engine temp: 153F

Engine was at operating temp. Had been driven for approximately 30 minutes. I was stopped and idling.

Do you have a magic heater? How the heck is the heater output temp warmer than the engine coolant temp? That shouldn't be possible... And "operating temp" for your engine should be a lot higher than 153, right? The T-stat doesn't even open until 180-ish...

:meh: Don’t know

I was just messing around, poking fun at the LC bubble we tend to be in here. Not you by any means. There may a classifieds section here where you can list it.

Rang in the new year with a little cold weather ridgerunning, puddle busting, and exploring in jefferson natl forest.

Locker or winch first question answered once again.

My wife used the 80 to go grocery shopping so I can cook a little. Oh yeah. Wearing sandals again. California.

Sounds like you had a sausage party. (Must watch video to get joke)

When my son and I got done ice fishing yesterday he said “Dad, it’s not ticking or knocking.”

So I took a video. I have no idea how or why it stopped. I drove it later and it didn’t tick or knock. And I got the engine up to temp even though it is cold AF here. I thought maybe the oil being cold made it thicker or something but I have no idea.

If I was shady I’d list this thing and sell it! Haha.
