This is the other problem I have. I picked up the 6.2L and immediately tore it down because I was going to put a stroker kit in it to get to 416cu. Was going to throw it into my 1994 miata because a turbo k24 swap seems like similar effort and cost. But with many more failure points. So the LS has been sitting for a couple years in my garage. And that's when I started entertaining diesel swaps. An M57 with a 3" straight pipe sounds like a tank and I love it. They've also got a pretty simple aftermarket harness option to make it close to plug and play.
I finally finished stripping the interior floor out, dry iced all of the stock sound deadening and replaced it with a new layer of butly backed and foam on top. Put in a new carpet kit from one of the Mud members and the floor is great now. I can actually have a normal conversation doing 60mph. Planning to do the doors and rear quarters as well, maybe the roof one day.
Either route, I'm sticking with a manual. They make a tr4050 adapter for the M57 and the LS can be adapted to the tremec as well or the h55f. Dealers choice. The sound and mpg are the biggest draws for a diesel for me. The muscle car sound coming out of the 60 doesn't feel quite right now that I've owned diesel cruisers. Stoked that it's been working for you, I've got more thinking to do.
Getting my hj47 has shown me the Aussie side of cruisers and they love Barra/M57 swaps over there. The M57 is very tempting, more so than the om606 for me personally.
Definitely not my doing. A professional photographer came one evening and took photos of everyoneās dogs. That one of Izzy facing the camera was a bad thrown on my part so it went way out of bounds but directly at her. I saw Izzy pop up and look right at her as the camera clicked.
Totally get that. The m57 has better low end compared to the om606 and can reach similar power levels with some bolt onās and tuning. Cheaper too.
The sound is addictive too. 3" exhaust from the turbos back and you can hear the whistle. Support for both engines seems like it's at the point where you can buy standalone harnesses for either and have a 'relatively' simple time doing the swap. I have the LS on hand, and I've got the motor mounts for it already. We'll see how the 47 treats me (it needs work) and I'll decide if I want multiple diesel vehicles.
Yes, the turbo diesel noises are exceptional.
Drove it from home to the family cabin below Lizard Head Pass. Next day over Ophir Pass to Ouray to pick up a 8274 winch from @Tank5 at SAS10. Then met up with my friend Bruno and family and followed the his 2 FJ45s over Imogene Pass to Telluride, and then back to the cabin.

Few shots from solid axle summit. Ran Minerial/Poughkipsee Sunday, Ophir/Imogene Monday, Yankee Boy/governors basin Tuesday, Black Bear/Imogene Wednesday. Broke/failed: fan relay, upper shock bolt (rr), spider gears at the wall, tank vent tube pinched/gasoline in charcoal canister. Always a hoot!

Theyāve been sitting in the cruiser in the sun for a few hours and the suction cups are still holding on.
Fit is pretty good, doesnāt block 100% of light though. I put them on fresh out of the box, so theyāre still a little curved from being rolled up. Iām sure with some use theyāll flatten a bit and probably block a bit more along the edges.
When I ordered them, I realized a full kit included a sunroof option, so I had to email them to get that taken off. Customer service was quick and easy to get that credited back to me.
Awesome. Any % of sun blockage is better than 0%. I have a front shade already and didn't need the sunroof so I ordered for all four door windows, the cargo windows, and the rear. I'll probably just use the door window shades for parking lots around town and bring the full set up camping if we decide to sleep in the back rather than the tent. It'll make us feel safer if we can't see the bears & mountain lions haha.
These were a game-changer on my drive through Texas to SAS this year. I even have a set for my GX. Glad more people are grabbing these. They don't block out all the light, but they do block out most of the heat!
The suction cups are pretty good. The included plastic ring to pull them off doesnāt really work, you gotta reach behind and break the seal of the suction cup. Iāll take that any day over having the suction too loose though.
First āmoderateā trail experience for me outside Big Bear. Went up tip top mountain with a great crew that also included an 80 and 250.
Bought this project 83' with 278k miles last week, wouldn't drive. Replaced the master clutch cylinder and now it goes into gear! Lot of maintenance work to do but it runs pretty good!
Not sure we understand. Water pumps are very necessary component of the cooling system and you canāt just bypass it with an electrical one? Well Iām sure you can- but it would be complicated with addition of a thermostat, heater hoses and radiator.Question, does anyone know of an electric water pump for the 2f? Haven't been able to find anything, just curious. Mine threw a belt on the way to work tonight..
Bruh.. I mean is there an electric one that does not run off a belt.. Like the plenty you can get for any sbc or sbf. There is one for the 3f but just didn't have luck when looking for the 2f.
