I was away from my FJ60s this weekend - was visiting family in Seattle - so nothing to report. But I spotted a great looking red FJ60 leaving a parking area at the corner of Union Street and 11th Avenue mid-afternoon Sunday. Maybe someone here on MUD? Gave the driver a big thumbs-up .
I got fancy with the Toyota badge on my grill. I had blacked out the grill a LONG time ago (5 years or so) and the badge has been sitting on a shelf ever since, so I painted it hammered gray to (sort of) match my sh!tty gray paint job. (Those aren't chrome lines on the grill, it's just weird lighting.)
it’s not the weekend but close enough. i have a friend a colleague who bands great horn owls. he took my family and i out tonight. yes my truck is there but the birds were the stars tonight!! such a cool experience
I tackled my first carb rebuild and so far it's been a success with no major hiccups! Unless you count having to ride a bike for the first time in 10 years back to the parts store... 5 times... thanks to everyone on the forum for guidance. You folks are invaluable!
Correct they are Hardigg Med Chests. Very sturdy, dust and water tight, and they have wheels like luggage and also handles on all 4 sides.
They fit nicely stacked in the 62 or on top. Here’s another view of them- They also fit perfectly in between the wheelwells of an FJ40 and there’s still exactly enough room for a 60 Qt. Grizzly cooler left. Pretty sure a 50qt fridge would fit in that space too.
Stepped up my game and installed my recently painted Exhaust Manifolds, Exhaust Heat Shields, Cleaned Injectors (by Witch Hunter Performance), cleaned fuel rail with new high temperature mounting clamps by Improved Racing. Still need to finish putting everything together. But a project is a project!
And this all started because I had to replace my exhaust manifold gasket.
Camped Memorial Day at Round Lake at the base of 3 Fingered Jack in the Jefferson Wilderness area. 30 miles or so West of Sisters, OR. There was a fire in this area in the 2003 timeframe. Apparently the Forest Service decided to allow nature to takes it's course and trees are now starting to reappear. The burn allowed the lower vegetation to take hold. There were lots of songbirds and the deer were literally walking through camp. The fire also opened up the view to the mountain.
Looks great. Did you run into any problems with the install beside the normal bushings grabbing the pins? Did the axle bolts ring off? Did you need heat to get the nuts loose? I will be doing this soon and going OME Heavy/Heavy and ARB bumper. I noticed the bumper is off. Are you going with an aftermarket winch bumper?
