Can you share any info about this? Any recent maintenance? Did you do a complete fluid exchange recently or a flush? Do you tow? I thought these transmissions were pretty stout.
Yeah I’ll give you a detailed account of everything once the transmission guys are finished with their inspection. Just dropped it off.
truck has 175k miles still runs and drives and shifts in to gear/reverse and all gears. I haven’t changed/flushed my trans fluid since owning it . The owner before towed a boat from time to time. No leaks that I’ve noticed. I’ve put about 60k since owning it with trail use no heavy off roading really. There is a slight 2 sec delayed engagement when going from park to D/R I’ve noticed. started noticing the hesitation issues going through the mountains in Montana. Lose of power when given it gas. A lot like symptoms of a fuel pump going out I guess or even exhaust leak. I know maf sensor can effect your transmission sometimes and I replaced that myself and had no change of behavior. I could be lucky and maybe it’s just the solenoid however, that’s a pricey job in and of itself. Seems a lot of times there are other issues in your trans that cause those to fail. If that’s the case getting a low mile tranny could be my best option. Let me just say I love these trucks and it does seem out of the normal for tranny to fail on these. To me it’s worth every dime to drop a new one in or rebuild if it needs it. My frustration is with identifying my exact issue or issues honestly. At the end of the day I’ve never been left stranded and this thing has always got me home regardless. Ill update ya when I hear from shop

As far as maintenance I’ve done timing belt/water pump change when I bought it, replace valve cover gasket, serpentine belt, oil changes/ gear oil ect the regular. Power steering is out and soon to replace

Got the 2nd timing belt/WP service done on my truck today @ 141K (last was 7 years ago 60K). Also went ahead and got the spark plugs, PS fluid, and thermostat done. Truck feels even more solid (probably placebo)

Hello everyone, I'm a brand new GX470 owner. I just picked up an '04 this week with 205k (from another MUD member) to have as a 3rd vehicle. I'm really digging it. What a great vehicle this is! For the past 8+ years, my DD has been a '97 FZJ80 but I plan on working the GX into the rotation now. Anyhow, today I spent the day cleaning it up and detailing the inside/outside. I also couldn't help myself so I took some glamour shots of it.

Also funny story..., the previous owner sold it to me in very good condition overall but there were a few nooks and crannies that still had some leftover items in them. For instance, the passenger side front door pocket had a pen that was stuck to the bottom of the pocket. Since I was in fanatical cleaning mode, I was absolutely determined to remove this pen at all costs despite the fact that a wiser man would have probably left it alone. Of course, it wasn't long before I had broke the pen, having extracted only the upper half, and ink began running out of the pen, into the door pocket, and onto the pavement (and the door sill if I closed the door). Now of course, I had to remove the pen at all costs to stop the continuous flow of ink. This of course led to the use of miscellaneous prying tools. Eventually I proved victorious against my foe, but not without having the last laugh. When the pen finally let go, it shot out of the pocket, flinging ink all over the place and sending a liberal amount onto my face. I thought my wife and kids would enjoy seeing a picture of me with ink all over my face (and making fun of me) so I sent them a quick selfie of the situation. My wife did not disappoint. Below was her response...

Congratulations on the new ride! Your description of removing the pen was hilarious! I love that color and found a few in my search but none at the price I wanted to pay. She looks beautiful.

Finally got my Budbuilt skids and sliders installed this weekend, changed out my diff and transfer case fluids, and added a breather extension for the rear diff. Still need to paint my lower link skids and get those put on as well. Still to do is replace the trans fluid and PS fluid and then suspension hopefully this summer

I figured it was time to de-bling the new ride, so I tried my hand at Plasti-Dipping the decals.

Recent window belt swap. Accidentally dropped that rear window nut behind plastics, oops.
