Thank you for the shout out Norm! Glad to see it's working well for you and especially glad to see it still in the valley and to a club member!

Purchased a puma and set it in the back of the land cruiser! No more 8 minutes per tire! Now how to mount it so it stays in place?

@Chrismanjs Right now I use a ratchet strap through the cargo tie underneath to hold mine down through the cargo tie underneath. It makes it very quiet when running.

Hope you found a good place to get the work done. :doh:

Now the 80's turn to get "tuned up". Now I feel properly prepared for Saddletramps upcoming 4 day overland trip and did:

* front axle/trunion reseal

*front brake job and bearing repack

* changed spark plugs to Denso platinum that Toyota put in the MR2 supercharged engines. It is one degree cooler heat range to compensate for higher cylinder temps

* install 4 new tie rod ends and alignment

* install led in the instrument cluster/dash, and backup lights

* oil change and filter

Ready to go! :steer:

Is your shoulder sore?

Tackled the famous oil pump and crank seal on the 80. It's good I ordered the idler pulley on the oil pump as I was getting some belt noise a few weeks ago and when I looked down with the engine running the pulley was not moving. Oh boy.

I've been putting this off too long. Having the supercharger makes the fan and shroud a real pain to remove and install. But the leak was getting worse and now was time to get it done. Beinf able to use my work and lift definitely made it manageable.

I used a small electric impact for the 7 oil pump cover Phillips. Alittle stressful when only 5 came out with some impact hits. After some time and a few hits of a hammer the other 2 gave way and all 7 came out. Whooo.
Here's some pictures

Went up to Payson and had a relaxing weekend. First water crossing in the land cruiser and first time driving Offroad in the snow!

I have a big torque wrench (100-600 ft/lbs) and socket if you need it for the crank bolt.

Round Two: replaced the Super Charger tensioner pulley (bearing was getting noisy) and found the Dayco 89009 pulley is an exact replacement :). Rear brakes and rotors, repl distributor o-ring, Fan belts, new Satellite radio antenna.

Ever since I install my Gobi rear ladder my hatch has had a hard time staying up when cold out. I corrected or rigged the problem with low cost ghetto engineering fix.

Done with dealing with the ghetto 'fix' I replaced one of my struts with heavier aftermarket now it work excellent, $14 well spent after a couple years of dealing with this.:doh:

Not sure of the price of OEM struts for the 80 series but anything like the 60 series besides being heavier duty they are a small fraction of the price of OEM. My FJ62 struts haven't held the hatch open for years when the weather is cold. Think OEM were over $300 for a set. Tenth of that for aftermarket set off of Amazon. Same with the hood struts on our 04 4Runner. That one was using a piece a wood for the longest time. I know Eric @Pitch remembers the carpet cleaner in the back of the rig on the Verde Valley pre-run last year but sure he remembers me digging something out of the back to hold the hood up while airing up. As cheap as these are won't be putting it off as long next time.
