Builds What did you do to your Land Cruiser/Toyota/Lexus 4X4 this week? (6 Viewers)

Finished up several projects this week:

On Coconino, the 1992:
Converted from MAF drop brackets to Slee caster plates. Installed a DC front driveshaf (Tatton), and readjusted the front hub bearing preload to 25 ft#. I had used the factory 47 in# in my recent front end partial rebuild, but felt it was inadequate. The front end is fairly tight, now. Vibe free= happy Cruiser.

Also developed, and hopefully cured a random coolant leak in the "3rd radiator hose" on the 3FE. Such a stupid location; located behind the AC compressor pulley.

Along the way, I found a few other coolant lines needing attention along the firewall, and I need to get the rubber rear heater lines under the passenger seat swapped out. Nearly 25 yrs old now, yikes! I will save them for another day.

On Kaibab the 97;
The rear stock springs and 30mm spacers were removed, and OME mediums swapped in. Now the stance is propper, with mediums F/R.

E-brake adjustment completed, and the LSPV maxed out= happy brakes!

Added my awning for the upcoming ROTM and added the LandCruiserPhil 100 series mud flap replacement. Great product maybe a 1/4  job

Quick trip to the junk yard added a new passenger door trim piece and tailgate latch. Got a new head unit installed and working properly (and feeling like a master electrician!) and ditched the running boards.

Loaded up the fam and took them barreling through sand and mud last night. Brad is a beast. They loved it.

P.S. has anybody ever tried light bar supply.com? It's all over my facebook and seems like too good of a deal to be worth it...

I hate mud! Getting the visable mud is easy it's the hours I've spent laying on my back cleaning it out of all the nooks and crannies in the frame and body on my FJ40 I hate. Now it's the salt they use on any highway that gets snow. At least Costco's carwash does a good under side wash. Unlike salt most carwashes frown on running a vehicle thru that's caked with mud.

What do you do when you get a "new to you" 80 series with higher miles that develops the white smoke puffs? You take it to Eric at CBT and have Tom do the head gasket! Very thorough, top notch as always. Thanks Eric and Tom!!!

BTW, special thanks to @mrhustle23 for a great, well pedigreed rig that gets to stay in the club/valley.

My 97 is going through rehab currently. Kind of a 12 step program back to respectable-Cruiserhood. Several orders through CBT have been placed. Today's chapter, new tires. These are the new Falken Wildpeak AT3W, in the 285/75/16 flavor. They are quite heavy and burly. Probably heavier than a 35" BFG AT KO1. Definitely slower than the 245/75/16 Big O AT's they replaced. But, these will look and perform oh so much better. Quiet on pavement so far. Discount Tire hooks it up again!

Did you have any chance to wheel those Falken AT3W tires? Any issue with dry traction on trail like Broken Arrow?

Gave the 80 some much needed care tonight.
Replaced some very (old) old man emu shocks with the newer sport style. Also installed a new steering stabilizer.
The 80 should handle so much better now. Lol

On pavement, snow, ice, and dirt roads they have been great, but no real time in the rocks or real "wheeling" yet.

Small stuff done this week. Replaced headlamp bulbs and added a new stereo deck and rear woofer replacement. Not a huge audiophile but I love having access to bluetooth, usb, and HD radio. Also ended up finding a spare wheel and used mud tire that matched my other tires. There is a auto recycler by 16th street and Roeser St. that has 2 80 series they are parting out. There is still one more aluminum spare and they also had one steelie. Oh! also added CDL button.

Added the @Pitch mod, handy place for these very strong anchor points. Thanks Eric for the hammock rated product, tested and proven.View attachment 1375911View attachment 1375912

Cruddz was using these in his second row seat bolt holes as a tie down point for his fridge on this last run of the month. I could use that for Saddletramp's upcoming multi-day rotm for my own fridge so I ordered these

We (mostly @Shwing, let's be realistic here; I provided the management) ran wiring through the 100 for the ARB fridge. Learned it is much more complicated to remove the side panels in the 100 than in the 80, but still not too bad of a project. Decided to connect through the back ashtray slot rather than drilling additional holes, per my insistence; worked excellently.
