Previous owner had really solid weld penetration on the engine mounts...

I have no idea how I've been driving this thing for 5 years without the engine falling out...I seriously popped one of the scab plates out with a crow bar...

looks like there is going to be a real steel tailgate fill in piece for sale soon....decided to just get their tailgate with the mounting provisions already in place rather than try and make this one work.

Been working on a few things.
One was getting the alternator to actually charge the truck again, apparently it was staying in place with a hope and a prayer and some corrosion and rust because this was the condition of the adjuster bolt:

Also I was getting extremely tired of fogged up headlights on our cars:

I did this on my Camry as well and here is the procedure I used because the off the shelf stuff was just not cutting it and internet fixes weren't either:



This is the setup:


Step One:


At work we have Dewalt buffers so the speed numbers are a little different then the Harbor Freight special. At work Stage one is done at 1200-1400 rpm, on the digital read out on the Harbor Freight buffer I went to 20

Step Two:


Speed on the Dewalt would be 1000 rpm, on the Harbor Freight 15.

Step Three:


Again, Dewalt 600 rpm, Harbor Freight read out 10.

Figured I would share if you may have a vehicle that needs a polishing.
You can finish up the process with a headlamp sealant or wax of your choice.

Installed a factor 55 prolink the other day. While I was at it I went to install a new winch control box as we had a brand new one at the shop that had a damaged cover. Since the new cover was damaged I needed to reuse my old one. During that process 3 of the new solenoid studs broke and 3 of the old ones broke. So one trip to quadratec later I'm several bucks lighter to "fix" something that worked perfectly fine. Moral of the story: if it ain't broke...

I think the only real long term fix is new headlight housings. It seems like after you polish them your committed to doing it 2-3 times a year.
