As many will know the fuel tank inlet pipe has been discontinued by Mr. T. My guess is that there probably isn't many good second hand ones on the market and going by the posts in the wanted section there appears to be a few people who were looking but no obvious sign that they found one.
So what are people doing when theirs is damaged or rusted out? Are there any aftermarket suppliers or even maybe a mud member who is making these? The pipe work doesn't look very complicated so I wondered if a decent exhaust shop could fabricate one.

Interested to hear your solutions.

IIRC @OTRAMM made a fuel filler pipe or kit? for awhile??

Some people have cut out the rusted section and installed a fuel tolerant hose
between the cut sections along with a couple of clamps on each side.

Used pipe is of course another option but takes some looking IME.

Do what everyone else that supports obsolete vehicles does... Punt.

Look under beds, in old sheds, wrecking yards, fabricate your own replacement. Whatever. If you think it's a challenge, try rebuilding a WWII German tank.

I feel like one of the lucky ones...I bought an @OTRAMM filler neck just before he stopped making them and shifted his business focus. Work of art...too bad it will get hidden...

I would probably buy a thin wall SS pipe, and modify/bend/weld it in the right places....or, pay a local fabricator to do it for you.

I have one or two but I am going to play that "I know what I got" line. People always expect me to just give them away.
How many did you throw away in an old carcass before you realized it was a "thing"?

actually none. people have been buying those since i started doing this 10 years ago. those rusty states have been buying then forever.

the biggest issue is i tell people, over and over, that you simply cannot install it without lifting the body. i charge 150 more to remove it as one piece. they make a big stink about not wanting a cut one. i remove it whole for them, and it cost 3 times as much to ship that way, then they call me a week later asking how to get it in because it doesnt fit... idiots.

So, after carefully reading this… how do you install an uncut one, without lifting the body? 😂😂😂

A few years ago I picked up a used filler pipe from a salt-free State in excellent condition but then paid almost as much again to ship it in one piece. Should've just cut it in half before shipping.

Partsouq has them in stock for a diesel at least. don’t know how much of a difference it is between diesel and gasoline. just finished replacing the rubber portion between the neck and tank yesterday, and spent about 2 hours cleaning the 1/2” of gunk built up on it. only a couple spots of rust so the fact that it was coated in layers of diesel and dirt from a leak probably preserved it. guess i got lucky

only thing i could imagine is different is the inlet size on the nozzle side (due to gasoline nozzles being smaller for the idiot proofness) which would mean that the trim around it and gas cap might be different, but could still be made to work most likely. if anyone wants measurements, let me know, or better yet, if you know of a diesel/gasser close to you, just swap gas caps and see if they fit.

The diesel neck does not have a restrictor plate in it for the unleaded fuel nozzle. That will not pass any required emissions inspections.

Can't you just use one of the weld in/push in flappers?

Last smog (in Kali), the guy didn't even pop the fuel door open. Seems like you would be searching for a while to find a leaded fuel dispenser these days :)

Dumb aged out regulations...

cheers,
george.

Pretty much airports and places that sell leaded race gas. They are still out there and could be "misused". I don't see that restrictor requirement ever being lifted as a pass-fail no matter how unlikely it would be.

The nearest fuel station to my house sells leaded gas. It's an airport but it is technically closer than the nearest gas station. We would buy fuel there for our racecars 10 years or so ago.

Is there still a spring loaded flapper valve on the fill end of the diesel 80 series fuel filler pipe, just a different size, or nothing?

I have the diesel dual filler neck and there's no spring loaded flapper valve. I would assume the regular filler neck would be the same.
