Hey guys, any routes in the Bozeman area open/passable currently? I'll be in the area this weekend and was thinking about getting out.
flathead pass, and revenue flats are open all year long. pipestone and whitetail road ( ringing rocks trail ) area is open also. Random though is i think theres a ton of stuff worth exploring in the little belts that might be open. Someone else would probs know

Cant speak to the trails down in your neck of the woods, but this time of year the NOAA snow depth maps and SNOTEL info are super useful in making sense of where stuff is melting off.. Dark purple is deep stuff, light blue is not so deep

The big belt mountains got barely any snow this year....Little belt got way more....

Anybody done Flathead recently? I know it's early so thinking about snow.
Flathead is dry already.
If you want snow go to upper sureshot lake and keep going up Blaine mtn trail. Still might be getting dry.
This picture was two weeks ago top of flathead. The last of the good deep spring snow.

I have been glassing for bears lately and the snow is nearly gone on all the south facing slopes even up high. I would think trails will be thawing quick this year, I also think fires will be be showing up early too.

Thanks for the intel, guys!

@Mike NXP I've not thought to check that for this purpose before, thanks for the tip!

We might poke up Flathead then. I'll post some pics when we get out there.
For sure, Gaia maps makes it easy and has a bunch of layers that help this time of year. They pull all the data in from NOAA.

It's a good way to get an understanding of how the snow is melting out in the mountains and you could usually figure out if your trail is still blocked off using the snow depth layer

Random snow wheeling video from March 21st up Flathead Pass.
Toyotas, Chevys and Ford Broncos made for a good time.
