I should have that sway bar, when you’re ready for it. Keep up the good work!

FWIW ive found the sway bar less crucial with the stout 10 leaf packs and light weight of the 45. That said, I’ve never driven one with one to compare.

Not saying it won’t make an improvement but I’ve never felt the need or excessive lean and that’s being SOA too.

I still have a 55 sway bar to fit that truck that’s been earmarked for the 45 for a decade now :/

Great progress. You are crushing it. 💪

Thanks so much @jfz80 !!

Unfortunately yesterday and today haven’t gone very well. Was pushing for a first start yesterday and still unable to get it. First I couldn’t get the thing to pump fuel out of the primer pump. Discovered the pump was bad so I switched it to the one from the H engine. Got that working and bled the system several times and still couldn’t get it. Checked the glow system and that was good. Started bleeding it from the injectors too while cranking but that eventually ran down my battery and I still wasn’t getting fuel to the first or second injector. Then started messing around with what I call the stop lever and something just wasn’t right. @duncanrm has been a huge help he suggested I take the side cover off the injector pump and what I see is concerning. Several c clips look to have ejected and the rack does not move. So sitting down tonight with the 2H manual and see if I can sort this out… Doesn’t look good with wedding 2 weeks out from tomorrow. Was sent this engine from a mud member and he sent me a video of it running. It has sat for about 4 years so hopefully I’ll get it.

I may have a spare injection pump on shelf. I bought it feom EBI cruisers in BC from their shelf spares. “Removed from working truck”. Let me know if yours is toast. A diesel injection pump rehab place local to you may also be able to set you straight.

Decided to remove the injector pump. Got everything loose and crank pulley off and the timing cover. Just need to line up the timing marks and see if I can remove the pump while engine is in the truck. Hopefully there is enough room between it and the battery tray to wiggle it out.

Trying to figure out how I can get the automatic timer gear off the pump. Ceylonfj40nut is sending me his pump so I’ll have to switch the gear over. Also not sure my diesel shop will be able to rebuild mine in time.

Well, I’m giving up on trying to get the timer gear off. I’ve made several pullers and half-inch pipe seems to fit the center threaded hole perfectly but they all are stripping out. I guess the metal is just too soft and this gear is on way too tight. I’m hoping tomorrow I can drop off this pump and my diesel shop will at least try and get this timer gear off for my inbound pump coming. I need it off for it.

Going to work on getting seatbelts in instead.

Started on seatbelts I got from cool cruisers. Took off the top and cut a hole so this could slide in and line up with the factory hole in the top. I welded a nut on the backside of that plate to anchor the shoulder strap. Then welded the hole on top back up and ground it down. I’ll paint that tomorrow. I put one lap belt in for the middle and plan on finishing up the driver’s side tomorrow.

Wow this thing is fighting me the whole way. I so much wish I would have order a rear disc brake conversion. I knew the wheel cylinders in the rear were leaking so I ordered wheel cylinders for June of 1980 HJ45. I opened up the rear drivers side and what a mess. Bent nails holding the plungers together. Shoes completely saturated. The passenger side didn’t have any shoes or hardware at all. This truck has been driving around with no brakes on the rear passenger and made the 2 hour+ trip from Siguatepeque Honduras to the coast and then on the ferry to Roaton. So I’m in deep now on brakes trying to find the correct shoes in time. Can anyone chime in on brakes? SOR had 40 series the same through 8/80 I believe. The front are also completely different than what I’ve seen with a skinny solid flat disc verses the vented ones. Even the calipers have a skinnier groove to accommodate for just the solid disc. They seem Toyota and the pads fit both. Wondering if this is a 45 thing or possibly SA or Middle East thing. Hopefully can figure out something. Any help much appreciated!
