I have two Coleman water jugs we have been using them for years. Last summer the spigots both broke. I ordered replacement parts from Coleman for about 1/3 the cost of replacing the jugs.
Gotta love that kind of durability and availability of replacement parts.

I'm using the current issue GI 5-gallon water jugs. These are available new from US Cavalry. Super thick plastic so it'll hold up to being beaten around in our trailer.

If'n I were you, I'd go w/it. buy a couple and see how they do.

my dog show buddies use the Walmart version and they work just fine: better than my spendy Sceptre's at pouring water, that's for sure.

Good recommendation Pat, I bought a Reliance Aqua-Tainer many years ago and still have it, and I just placed an order yesterday (be here tomorrow) for another 7 gallon one.

For the past three seasons I have used a 5 gallon water cooler bottle and that battery pump.
I like the pump, but having a clear bottle is not good for the water.

Nice things about the Aqua-Tainer is you set it on its side, and it has a spigot you open to dispense the water.

The battery pump will not work with my old Aqua-Tainer, but the opening on the new bottle may be different, I will report back later this week.

These bottles are really nice though.

I have the sort of upright taller skinnier version of the 7 gallon reliance. You can see it upright on top of the box next to the cooler. I like it. It tucks nicely in front of the wheel well. Also sometimes I strap it to the rack sideways in the back and have a hose modified to it with another spigot for showers washing etc.

We've got the same, and have also replaced the spigots. Had them probably 8 years. 2 sit perfectly on the floor behind the passenger seat in the pig. About the only Coleman item I've been this satisfied with

I use Army surplus. In my case it is a flexible five gallon bladder in a canvas cover with straps. I canoe alot and I can carry the water to my camp area, hang it upside down and use the spigot. In the summer I will wet the canvas with river water to keep the drinking water cool. I usually only fill it to three or four gallons and I have to dry it and add a little chlorine when I store it.

I'm not a fan of the Reliance or any other that has a 'push in' vent cap, that push in works great until the can gets some uncanny pressure on it and then its popped out and dribbling. Between that and the thin plastic used in construction they just didn't last too long. Its no doubt I likely abuse things more than others but the Scepter MWC's (not the Scepter consumer grade water cans) have held up great. I lost one out of the back of my truck on the White Rim Trail a few years back, it took a few bounces down the hillside. Didn't leak a drop and the can while scratched up a bit is still in service to this day. Given the great price you can get the LCI cans for (not identical to Scepter MWC's btw) I wouldn't see a reason to use others for my personal needs. Add an o-ring to the LCI cans and they hang right there with the MWC's.

I've had two 7 gallon reliance aquatainers. The first one I broke the spigot off, and then just used a plug to make it water tight.

Then, while 4 wheeling, the second split and I lost all the water--luckily the duffle bags etc, were up off the bed of the truck. And, luckily, we had plenty of water.

I used to like these things, but it seems they need replacing as the plastic gets brittle. I am going to be looking for something more robust

my Reliance doesn't have a 'push-in' vent cap, so have not had issues. Good to hear the feedback though. I'll keep a closer eye on mine

It is interesting, reading what works for some, and not for others. There is some good info here. The water container in the OP can be ordered through Target. Im having one sent there and when I pick it up if I dont like it, I can simply leave it there.

I've tried several flavors of water jug. The 7gal Reliance I used for many years, but 7 gal is a lot to heft into a tall 4WD. Too heavy for me now days. So I've been using 5 gal. I had a Coleman for awhile, and hated it. The spigots kepts popping off. Coleman's answer was to send me more spigots, no charge. That did not solve my problem and the Coleman is now gone.

I was at a local plastic supplier recently and they had two 5 gal jugs with heavy spigots. The thin wall jug was $7, the heavy duty was $9. I bought the $7, but suspect it won't last too long. Next time I'm in the neighborhood I'm going to pick up the heavy duty. It will probably be the last jug I ever buy.

I was wrong, my old Aqua-Tainer was the 7 gallon model, same as the new one I just got.
Will use the new one for camping, old one for emergency water for the home.

Both have a screw on vent, there is no golf type tee to push back in.
Also seen in one of three Rubbermaid 3 gallon jerrycans that I have had since the early 90s.
They do not leak a drop, very heavy duty.
I used them for backup water in case I ran out of the 2 10 gallon tanks I had in my tent trailer.

2x on Kurt's recommendation of the Scepter 20 liter military water cans. I've had mine for years and abused them plenty. They are very tough and seal well, and the large mouth lets you fill or empty them in a hurry.

I also have a pair of the Scepter 20L cans. But, I find them inconvenient for anything other than water storage. I prefer something I can place on my tailgate and dispense from a spigot. I always carry a jug with a spigot, and when I need more than 5 gallons I refill as necessary from the Scepters. Trying to pour water in a pot or bottle is a PITA from the Scepter cans.
