US market radio?

Anyone know of a US market radio that'll fit in a HZJ76 2000MY that looks like it actually belongs in there?

The vehicle currently has an aftermarket JDM radio that looks like a spaceship - alot of chrome with blue lights. Told by my Japanese relatives that's the cool thing to do over there.

Would like something that looks like a Fujitsu Ten/Denso that was OEM.

I'm not an audiophile - not looking to connect an external amp or woofer box.

If it's a modern radio with "retro" looks, that's fine - I heard that's a thing in the US collector car market (?).

My kids say to look for one with Bluetooth connection... sure... whatever.
I'd be ecstatic if it just had an AUX.

There are several companies that make retro looking head units, but many are very expensive. The one I'm tempted by is the VDO/Continental head unit with radio and bluetooth. It is reasonably priced and has a very basic layout without all the flashy lights. An FJ60 I listed a while back had one and I thought it looked great in the dash.

There are several companies that make retro looking head units, but many are very expensive. The one I'm tempted by is the VDO/Continental head unit with radio and bluetooth. It is reasonably priced and has a very basic layout without all the flashy lights. An FJ60 I listed a while back had one and I thought it looked great in the dash.

Just about any model 90's era Toyota will fit and look period correct. You may need a wiring harness adapter, or re-pin your radio harness; adapters are available on Amazon.

Here's a quick find on ebay searching 90's camry, corrolla or tacoma

note that the volume/power knob is for LHD vehicles, not a very big deal, especially since that is the side of a radio you are used to reaching for. You can also get a different dash bezel that will fit the Toyota cassette and cd player radios found in Toyotas from the 90's. Something like this:

When searching for the wiring harness adapters you referenced - what do I type in for search parameters on Amazon or eBay?
"JDM radio to USDM radio harness"?

This is what I put in my HZJ77 and people always ask me if I plan on replacing my "old radio" or if I have to listen to music on my phone with the volume all the way up because they think my radio is stock. It looks great, it's inexpensive, and it was really easy to plug in with the right wiring harness.

Seems I got some homework to do.

I'm just looking for "as close to" if not, OEM radio.
I don't want or need a huge screen, 300watts, and on and on... the chrome, spaceship radio with bright blue lights that's currently in the truck has got to go!

But as you all realized by now, I am definitely NOT an audiophile

My knowledge level for the soon (hopefully soon) to be mine, HZJ76 ZX trim 2000MY is about the same - almost none.

I would steer clear of the "retro" radios and just fit an OEM corrolla one or similar. Most of the retro ones are just really crappy chinesium radios with an "older" looking faceplate. They sound terrible.

I had the same thoughts as you, I wanted a stock looking stereo, but I am a bit more critical of music listening (as much as you can be in a topless Land Cruiser) I tried a retro one, it sucked. I saw some others and heard those, unimpressed. Ended up putting an Alpine car play in and enjoy the maps/stereo/apple integration as well as WAZE which has a speedometer on the map.
