@65swb45 I figure the Carbureted Man would have few stashed away. If I could only go back to 1986 or 1990...I remember back in the day you could pick up any issue of Auto Trader from a nearby 7-Eleven and find Cruisers for sale. Things have changed a lot even in the past 5 years. Unfortunately all I managed to save from those days is a stash of Auto Traders :( Hopefully it's not too late to start saving some of the amazing parts that are still available. I will likely switch over to vendor status when my Gold Star status runs out, assuming my attempt at vendor-dom outlasts my Gold Star of course.

@beno You're right, one man's door stop is another man's museum piece. I'm sure more than a few of us have been asked, "You paid how much for that pile of rust?"

I Can't quite recall where I heard this maybe a @Downey post somewhere or maybe I even heard it from Marv? Or LCML... that the older carbs dealers were/had issues with and were just "chucking them in a pile" in the woods behind the shop... and replacing with the small site window carbs... Wish I knew where that pile was lol

I believe there was an fj45 service supplement that talked about replacing the carbs with an updated carb I think @Landpimp possibles had that... Couldn't find it in the pdf folder :meh:

Marv told me I got the last new one he had...that was 10 years ago, $200-ish

Feast your eyes on this NOS single barrel carburetor, OEM part # 21100-60034. The carburetor is at an old school shop in Japan. It took a while to get these pics, as the owner does not use the internet or speak English. However, the owner is well

I got the one on my LWB , in mint condition, from another shop that was scrapping an F135 after a V-8 conversion. I paid them $75, and for that they delivered the whole engine to me! Those WERE the days.

I saw your post, then stumbled across this on cruiserparts.net

62812-90300 [62812-90300] : CruiserParts.net, Toyota Landcruiser Parts

Note that the parts fiche lists the part as 67812-90300; Cruiserparts has it as 62812-90300. Simple typo, I suppose.

Online Toyota says NLA, but it seems Cruiserparts must be picking up NOS inventory somewhere??

Please let me know if this works out for you..

I FINALLY got ahold of Cruiserparts after calling for about a week. You were correct about the wrong item number. The correct number is listed as a NEW item (see picture). When I received them I wasn't to surprised that they weren't new and rather rusty. I was just happy to get them at all after reading the negative reviews about Cruiserparts. Sanded up and painted good, thanks for the tip 73FJ40.

I probably have a dozen of those.

Racer

Since you were able to reproduce the cowl vent gasket, perhaps you'd be interested to repop the gasket that goes at the base of the 73 and newer firewall. I have this NOS one I just ran across you could use as a template.

OK, that looks doable assuming it's 100% rubber, but I need to be schooled on what it is. Is there a diagram?

If anyone is in need of this piece please come forward as well. Thanks!

By the way Mark, I'm going to make the carb spacer you brought up earlier, given a lot folks are in that '75 to '80 segment. Thanks for catching that.

After reading other carb threads, I realized that Marshall figured that out a long time ago!

It is foam rubber.

It appears to be this part:

Shield 45254-60020 FJ40, BJ40 7209 - 8007

SHIELD, STEERING COLUMN HOLE

I would buy one if you went into production.

What firewall grommet are we talking about? The shield that Mark posted? Actually there have been many before me who have posted up images with all the various holes in the firewall. I have some soft plastic hole plugs that I punched and am using for some of the NLA grommets. Don't have any long term experience with them but so far so good.
