I have both hoses and elbows off my 76 FJ40 I could send you to use as a pattern if you promise to return them and I know you would. I also have a air cleaner gasket that goes between the air cleaner and the bottom/top (don't remember if it goes on the top or bottom) of the air cleaner housing I could send. I do not have the gasket that goes around the lid. Send me a pm with your shipping address as I sold the shipping store and don't have your address readily available to me.

It's only the '63 to '67 defrost hose that is unobtainium. The later ones should be available from SOR. I recall them doing a sale on it earlier this year.

I have a elbow and hose in good condition, i can get photo tomorrow. The whole set up would be nice, i said just the elbow because I or anyone else could probably find a hose that would work with the elbow. The elbow is the hardest part to fake.
The photo i sent is a good elbow with some Home Depot hose that i found.

I would be surprised if the elbow is different unless the hole in the heater is different. The hose might be different just guessing though.
OK, we can let other folks post some pics. In any event, I'm deferring this project for now, as there are a few things cooking in the kitchen already :)

Yes the hole on the earlier heaters is smaller. Its around 2" in diameter, same with the defrost duct at windshield.

how about the internals of the smog pump for 40's and 60's. you would be a god in cali if you can do that. I had to buy 3 used smog pumps before one worked. no rebuild kits

Early choke cables would be great!

Likewise, a lot of these dash cables tend to seize up and break. My heater pull knob/cable is completely shot. Seized in the sleeve and pulled out of the little metal "tip" in the engine bay. I believe the fresh-air pull knob is a similar design. I think they are all NLA from Toyota.

Just fyi - there are bicycle tool suppliers that openly sell cable ends and tools for repairing those , including heavy duty ends like what Toyota used ...there are also other industrial suppliers as well in different trades such as aircraft . Those are some high-quality cable parts...
Sarge

I have a few of these fresh pull cables with the late model knob:

Does the cable look the same to you?

I can't speak to the length, as mine is still installed, but the connection looks the same. A metal anchor point at the base of the sleeve with a coil to connect the cables terminal end.

As you can see, the metal anchor has pulled off the sheath, probably because I pulled too hard trying to break the seized cable loose.

My 75's knobs don't have pictures, strictly writing:

Not sure when they switched from writing to images.

I have very few knob cables that I'd consider "working properly" in this truck. I might be able to salvage a few with cleaning and lubricating but some, like the warm pull assembly I pictured, are shot.

I've seen a lot of billet knobs, etc. for sale here and they're nice, but I really like the black plastic stock look - would love a replacement option aside from used.

What I have is new old stock. One should be able swap the knob if desired, but I think the graphical one looks good too.

Gotchya - I'm not to the point yet where I am too worried about cables. I was mostly just making the observation that these are NLA from Toyota and seem to be a common failure item. I was more suggesting it as an option in your quest for reproduction parts. Seems like there is a demand for dash knobs and cables.

However, I wouldn't be averse to running later model knobs in my 75 - it's already a frankentruck so I'm not overly concerned about "period correct." I just don't personally love the billet options because I'm not really into the "hot rod" look. More interested in keeping it low key and utilitarian, which the original knobs fit nicely.

Just want to share a link to this brake booster install thread in the Diesel forum.

This is the first time the City Racer Dual Diaphragm brake booster is installed into a post-1980 40 Series; that's when Toyota switched to a different booster. So far so good; I'll be watching this thread.

I'm taking on a project to build FJ25 brake hoses, which also happens to be used as clutch hoses for '71 and earlier FJ40s. The part # is 90947-02006. The reason it's needed is because the M11 size fitting is not readily available.

Just thought I ask if anyone else is having trouble with a particular type of brake or clutch hose? If so, please provide part #.
