***SOLD*** Thanks for all the interest, hopefully I can get her back someday!

This is my dream rig. It's a 1982 FJ40, professionally converted to the much coveted 12H-T diesel engine and mated to a H55F 5sp transmission. This truck only has 5000 miles on it since it's build of pure awesomeness. I swore I would never part with it, but the impending arrival of our first child isn't leaving me with much choice at this point. Some slight surface rust in places, no cancer at all. The drivers seat has a 3-4 inch tear in it. Those are all slight cosmetic issues, though.. the mechanicals are pristine and drool-worthy. Big amazing diesel, fully resealed (low miles on the engine prior to the rework ,and those of you in the know definitely know how these engines can run for 300-400K miles before needing a rebuild). Dual fuel tank system. Dual electrical systems. Warn locking hubs.

*This Rig is titled as a diesel!*

I had the rig professionally appraised by Automotive Appraisal Services, the same firm that deals with Icon down in SoCal. The rig appraised at ~$45,000, which is clearly much more than I am listing it at. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, want to come by and see it, or would like to see more photos.

Rock on.

Georg,
You made it onto the third page! The turbo, 24V to 12V alternator and front knuckles were all rebuilt, as was the rig itself (in the sense that it was disassembled all the way down to the frame, which was then cleaned, etched, and POR15ed before having the truck built back up around it).

Feel free to e-mail me if you have more questions or if you'd like to talk on the phone.

Thanks for the reply. I'm gathering info for my buddy. He doesn't know cruisers so much but he can see everything he needs on here.

Ok. So cosmetically the rig looks and sounds solid.
Mechanically, the conversion was done by Tor. It's hot a new 5-speed and rebuilt split case. Knuckles were rebuilt as well. Rear diff was replaced with good used. Sounds like the majority of the work was performed roughly 5k miles ago.
Is that correct?!

How are the brakes? Drive shafts good? How's the suspension and shocks?
Any frame rust?
And rust repair performed on the tub during the cosmetic work?
Can you post so e pics of the usual rust areas like front floors, rear sill and bottom of the doors?

Thanks again.

Howdy - sorry about the delay, have been working nights. Georg - all that is correct, regarding what was rebuilt; all the work was done 5k miles ago. No frame rust. Driveshaft, suspension and shocks all look good. A bit of surface rust on the rotors of the discs, but only as expected. I don't believe any rust repair was performed on the tub when work was being performed.
I'm at work right now, so I can't get to any pictures - I will try to get some of the usual rust areas up in the next few days.

Bugs - I will check with Tor re: previous mileage.

Thanks,
Tim

Who applied the POR-15? Have they had experience with it?

Hey all - sorry for the delay. Finally have a night off. JBlueridge - POR15 applied by TorFab in Seattle. They are a professional shop that specializes in Landcruisers, etc - I believe they have experience with it.
Bugs - engine originally had ~192k kilometers (115k miles) on it.

Get ready for a picture extravaganza. I've tried to characterize any of the flaws on the rig.

The worst spots for surface rust would be in the inner corners of the engine bay. They are under the hood, not seen from outside. Not cancerous. There is a shot of the tear in the driver's seat, and one of the headliner, which could do to be replaced at some point. The entire floor the the rig is covered with a fitted rubber mat (removable). I included a shot of under the mat which shows the little bit of surface rust on the bed. Little bit at the edges of the front wheel wells. Included shots of the rear sill and the bottoms of the doors, which all look clean.

She's not cosmetically perfect, but mechanically she is great. I haven't found any cosmetic issues which appear to be anything but superficial.

Also, videos (even from phones) are getting to be too big to attach to things, so I uploaded the cold start video to youtube and put it here: . She's never had a problem starting right up, even if I haven't driven her for a while. (Sound in the video has kind of a funny 'electronic' sound to it at times, I think it was the echo in the garage.)

Sorry for the multiple upcoming posts, I apparently can only attach 5 photos at a time to a post.

Flores - no leaks that I've noticed.. oil pressure is great and temp has stayed rock solid (even driving her for a few hours the other day in 85 degree weather.) - noticed a small coolant seep from the cap of the res, but coolant level hadn't changed.

Is this still available?
